An unusual Championship season has produced a strange number of losses
The exceptionality of the situation (prior to Friday's matches) is compounded by Blackburn Rovers, who have tasted defeat seven times in 16 games and yet somehow find themselves in second place.
To put that into more context, both Blackpool and Middlesbrough have the same number of losses so far this season, but both clubs are hovering just above the Championship relegation zone.
Another interesting case concerns the results of Coventry and West Brom. Both squads have lost two fewer matches than high-flying Blackburn, but both sit within the relegation zone - although Coventry have played substantially less games.
Huddersfield and Hull are the only sides to have been beaten more than Blackburn (with nine defeats for the former and eight for the latter. Struggling Huddersfield sit at the foot, while Hull are also loitering around the drop zone.
Remarkably, Blackburn are yet to draw a game in the Championship this season. While the win column looks healthy, fans may be wondering whether a few close defeats converted into draws may make all the difference come May, especially as they look to regain a place in the top flight for the first time since the 2011/12 season.
There's plenty to look out for over their shoulders though, as remarkably only seven points separate QPR in first place from Watford in 15th.
