Aston Villa agree deal to sign Real Betis defender Alex Moreno
Villa have agreed the deal in principle with the Spanish club - thought to be in the region of £12.5m - with personal terms still yet to be finalised with the player.
The 29-year-old former Rayo Vallecano left-back has made 122 appearances for Betis since 2019, including 14 starts so far in La Liga this season.
The Spaniard was a part of the Betis team that won the Copa del Rey last season.
Emery is enjoying a solid start to life in the Midlands, winning three of his five matches so far in the Premier League, including impressive wins over Manchester United, Brighton and Tottenham.
The Spanish coach is expected to continue looking to La Liga for further signings, with the 51-year-old recently stating that the club is looking to sign an attacking winger during the January transfer window.
"We need a specific winger, we need it and we are trying to find one," Emery told reporters last week.
"We are trying to add some different characteristics of the players to introduce into the squad. We now have two strikers in Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings who are specifically strikers.
"If we will add someone they will be different as a characteristic.
"We are thinking of adding one more into the squad."
