Formula 1: Ferrari to test new diffuser at Miami Grand Prix
After the podium in Baku, Ferrari want to repeat the feat on the Miami street circuit, and for that they will leave nothing to chance.
In tomorrow's free practice sessions, Gli Rossa will put on track two SF-23s with a different aerodynamic configuration, one standard and the other with a modified extractor.
Given the resurfaced tarmac on much of the circuit, there are indeed doubts about grip, which may have changed from last year.
There will be new features at the rear, with a mid-loaded wing again associated with the racer, while the most substantial package of updates is planned for the Imola Grand Prix.
Among the improvements that will be introduced, there will also be a modification of the diffuser to approximate the Red Bull's open DRS speed, the real strength of Christian Horner's team.
The first free practice session could therefore be dedicated to testing the aerodynamics, while in the second the set-up will be tweaked and the tyres will be tested, with engineers working hard to reduce tyre wear, a problem affecting the SF-23.
In terms of news, the most exciting and mysterious, however, is another: the man who will arrive at Maranello from rival Red Bull, about whom there is still some secrecy, but who should be officially announced in just over a week's time.
