Belle Vue were crowned Premiership champions following a fiercely contested Grand Final win over Sheffield last night (Thursday).

The Aces successfully defended their 12-point lead over Sheffield from the first leg in Manchester (51-39), but were beaten 50-40 at Owlerton.

It ends a bitter 29-year wait for a top-flight title for Belle Vue, with the Aces' most recent title before this year coming in 1993.

The Aces have now claimed a total of 13 Premiership titles.

Lee Wild, match-night presenter at Belle Vue, told Flashscore: “It feels unbelievable to finally be league champions after a 29-year wait.

“Every single rider gave their all to get us over the line and they’re all Belle Vue legends in my eyes.

“The atmosphere inside Owlerton was electric. Everyone knows the Belle Vue fans are the best in the league and they got their reward last night.”
