Cristiano Ronaldo has resumed training with Manchester United’s first team and could feature in their Europa League match against Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday.

Ronaldo, 37, was banished from the senior squad and dropped for Sunday’s match at Chelsea after refusing to come on as a substitute and walking down the tunnel minutes before the end of United's 2-0 win against Tottenham.

His behaviour infuriated Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag with former players and pundits calling on the Portuguese forward to be sold.

The striker was ordered to train alone following the incident, but on Tuesday was pictured with teammates at United’s Carrington training ground ahead of their forthcoming Europa League match at Old Trafford.

Although the forward has featured in only two Premier League games all season, he has played in all four of United’s Europa League games, including scoring a penalty in the reverse fixture against Tiraspol last month.
