The PDC World Darts Championship 2024 is in full swing with Saturday evening's session beginning with three first-round matches followed by the second-round match between veterans Gary Anderson and Simon Whitlock.

Catch up with all the action from the evening session on day two at Alexandra Palace:

Jamie Hughes (62) 3-1 David Cameron (-)

A fine 115 finish allowed Hughes - who has never won a PDC World Cup match - to equalise in his own fourth leg and the first set went to a decisive fifth.

In a tame leg, it was the Englishman who managed to put the first break on the scoreboard through misses by Cameron to claim the first set.

Hughes missed two darts on tops to take the second set and Cameron levelled the score in his own fourth leg which sent the second set to a fifth. With a well-timed 180, Cameron had a chance to break and did not waste it: 1-1 in sets.

Throwing out 89 on the bullseye, Hughes broke for a 2-1 lead in the third leg of the third set. With two 140s, the Canadian took the initiative in the fourth leg and broke immediately. Hughes found the 180 at the right moment and after numerous misses by both men, Hughes managed to break and move to 2-1 in sets.

As the level dropped some more, Hughes got to 2-0 in the fourth set via a break and thus on match point.

Cameron had another chance after Hughes missed three match darts, but the fourth was a hit for the Englishman, who managed to win for the first time at Ally Pally.

Hughes will play against Krzysztof Ratajski in the second round on Friday, December 22nd.

Keane Barry (41) 3-1 Reynaldo Rivera (-)

Rivera took advantage of misses from the young Irishman in the first leg and broke for a 1-0 lead. To crown that, he opened the second leg with a maximum score, but failed on the doubles allowing Barry to level the score.

After keeping his own leg, Barry came through a Shanghai 20-finish via a break in the fourth leg to take the set win.

In the first leg of the second set, Rivera managed to keep his own leg for the first time after throwing out 66.

The doubles were not going well for the Filipino, who failed to make it 2-0 by missing two full innings and Barry got to 1-1. The Irishman even took the lead when he managed to break in the third leg himself.

Rivera evened the score when he managed to break back after misses from Barry. A fifth leg was required in which Rivera got two darts on the double for the set, but saw Barry make it 2-0.

Rivera won the first leg through a break for the third set in a row. Unlike the first two sets, the Filipino got to 2-0 by keeping his own leg. Despite a questionable choice to go for double tops, Rivera also managed to win the third leg and thus the set.

The fourth set started with a break for Barry, who struggled with his opponent's slow play.

Rivera had chances to break back but missed two darts on the double and Barry got to match point.

Rivera delayed the Irish celebration for a while when double 20 finally started to flow. In his own leg, Barry had enough on his first match dart to qualify for the second round, where he will face Michael van Gerwen.

Scott Williams (52) 3-1 Haruki Muramatsu (149)

Williams showed he was on target and threw Shanghai 20 to break the Japanese in the first leg of the match.

Muramatsu showed there was no messing with him and broke right back.

In the third leg, both men started with 180 but could not follow it up with a second. After misses by Muramatsu, the third break in a row became a reality. Muramatsu levelled the score again and a fifth leg had to bring the decider.

That leg also became another break, thanks in part to two misses by Muramatsu on tops.

The Englishman was the first to keep his own leg and took a 1-0 lead in the second set. What Williams managed to do, Muramatsu did not and it became 2-0 in Williams' leg. Williams seemed to easily distance himself and won the second set in straight legs.

Muramatsu managed to win his own leg for the first time in the first leg of the third set. That the match was not over became clear when he broke Williams to make it 2-0. With a 108 finish, Muramatsu won the third set in style, 3-0.

Muramatsu's advance continued, winning his fourth leg in a row after inflicting another break on Williams.

The chance to cash in on the break was missed and Williams finally won another leg after four legs. By also neatly keeping his own leg, the Englishman reached match point.

The fourth leg went to Muramatsu after a great 116 finish and Williams could start the fifth leg. Throwing out 127 when it was really needed, Williams won the match.

Williams will meet Danny Noppert in the second round.

Gary Anderson (21) 3-0 Simon Whitlock (43)

Anderson started the match immediately with a 180, and Whitlock countered with 27.

The Flying Scotsman was out in 11 darts to make it 1-0.

A 156 brought Anderson into the Australian's leg on 16 and in 14 darts the second leg also went out. Whitlock let Anderson escape in his own third leg and the set went easily to the two-time world champion.

The first leg of the second set also went to Anderson, who managed to break again.

Whitlock saw Anderson run out to 2-0, but connected by winning his first leg of the match. It was to no avail for The Wizard, who was unable to fight his way back into the set and fell 2-0 behind.

The third set started with a break for Whitlock. However, he could not enjoy that for long and Anderson pulled up his socks in the second leg.

In his own leg, Anderson reached match point and in the fourth leg, he started with another 180. Whitlock managed to take the fourth leg to bring a deciding fifth.

Whitlock got an arrow on the bullseye, missed and saw Anderson close out 116 for a 3-0 whitewash victory.
