Ian White (55) 1-3 Tomoya Goto
Goto hit a 180 in the first leg, but failed to win White's leg. A 129 did not go out for the Englishman, but Goto did not get 122 out as he missed the bullseye. White came back for tops to make it 1-0.
Goto replied with a neat 14 darter. Via triple 20 and double 8, he threw out 76 to win his first leg 1-1.
In the third leg, White also threw his first maximum score. Goto replied with a 180, but White's leg was no longer in danger. He needed four darts for it, but eventually found double 8 for 2-1.
White threw 180 in the Japanese's leg and left 97. Goto did not get 154 out and so White was allowed to throw for the set. He missed and so Goto was allowed to throw out from 58 and that went out in two arrows.
Goto got a set arrow on 126 in White's leg but missed double 6. White missed an arrow on double 16 and so Goto was allowed to return for 12. He missed all three darts and so it was up to White again. He too missed three darts. Goto came back for double 3 and now threw out and won the first set.
White continues to miss set darts
White started the set fantastically with a break. In the second leg, White had no problems either, hitting 40 from tops. Goto came back by hitting 124 from double 8 to make it 2-1. White was on 32 after 12 arrows and had set darts.
But the pressure was too much again. He accidentally threw double 7 and missed double 9. Goto got one arrow on tops at 80 and hit it very handsomely for the rebreak: 2-2.
Goto threw a great last leg, which went out in 11 darts. 84 went out via double 12 to make it 2-0.
Again, White started the set well. With two 180s, he finally won the match after 13 darts. Tops went out. In the second leg, he threw a fantastic 146 finish and made it 2-0.
But the story repeated itself, as White again got five set darts from 48 and again he did not finish. Goto did throw double 6 and came back to 2-1. Goto missed tops on 101 and that allowed White to take the set now. Tops went out and so it was 2-1 in sets.
Goto plays great last set
Goto gave White a chance on 72 to break, but he missed tops and Goto did throw it out. He also grabbed the break, helped by a 180, by throwing 25 out via double 8. He did not miss a dart on that double.
He started right away with a 180, his seventh of the match. From 60 went Goto had two match darts, but missed. White also failed to throw out 136 and so Goto finished it off.
Ritchie Edhouse (56) 2-3 Jeffrey de Graaf (164)
Edhouse started the match fine and had little trouble in the first leg. 48 went out via single 16 double 16 to make it 1-0. He also grabbed the break as De Graaf failed to finish 81, missing a single on double 18. Double 4 made it 2-0 for the Englishman.
Edhouse had 167 left in the third leg, but only missed the bullseye. De Graaf took the rebreak with a fine 90 finish. Via single 18 and twice double 18 it was 2-1. With a good leg he cashed in on the break. 41 went out via 9 double 16: 2-2.
Edhouse did take the set, as via 50 double 8 was thrown with the last dart. That was just as well, as De Graaf had 97 standing.
In the second set, the Dutch Swede opened with 180 and quickly reached the doubles. The green 4 was hit, making it 1-0. He seemed to press on with good scores, but one move put Edhouse back in control of his leg.
Via double 9 it became 1-1. De Graaf threw 180 to leave 161 in his leg, but Edhouse did the same and left 82. He only missed the big planes and had no chance to throw out and left 6. De Graaf was on 66 and cleverly hit double 18 with his arrow to get back in front.
Edhouse made it 2-2 by throwing out double 16. In the second set, De Graaf got seven set pieces, but missed everything. Edhouse got one and threw out double 15. That was a handsome 110 finish.
De Graaf pounces on missed match dart
De Graaf had an immediate chance for the break in the third set, but missed the bullseye on 119. Edhouse failed to stay inside the boxes with 72 and also had to go to the bullseye. He also missed and so De Graaf came back. 25 went out and so the break soon fell.
De Graaf smelled his chance with 36 left, while Edhouse had 117 left. He threw that out via tops and continued to finish ironclad: 1-1. Edhouse had six arrows for 141. He left 16, but missed for the first time with three arrows in hand. De Graaf had one chance from 120, but missed tops.
Edhouse threw double 1 and got to match point. De Graaf opened with 180 and eventually threw out via double 16. De Graaf had 64 left with a fine leg and that had to go out for the set. 64 did not go out as double 16 fell on the inside. Edhouse had 94 left and missed his first matchdart on tops. De Graaf threw out double 4 and made it 2-1.
The Swede started the fourth set well. Edhouse was waiting for 40, but De Graaf threw out 50. He went for 14 double 18, as double 18 had been going well all match. He also took the break, as Edhouse was nowhere to be seen.
He did take the rebreak right away by hitting double 10 and also in his own leg 58 went out in two darts via tops. De Graaf opened with four perfect darts and eventually hit double 18. He hit it in one go to make it 2-2.
De Graaf too strong
Edhouse started the last set, but De Graaf kept scoring well. Double 10 went out and so the Dutch Swede had the Englishman by the known balls. De Graaf threw over 91 average in set 4, compared to Edhouse's over 85. De Graaf got better and better as the dreaded double 4 was thrown in one arrow for the 2-0. Match point for De Graaf.
Edhouse threw his seventh maximum score in the third leg and had 32 left. He missed three times and De Graaf had 106 left. He had one chance at double 16 but missed. Edhouse hit double 4 and so it was 2-1. De Graaf threw four triples in three innings and had a chance.
Three darts for 32 to win the match were enough. Via double 16, he won his first match at a World Cup in six attempts. In the final set, De Graaf threw 94.67 and threw 60 per cent on doubles.
Keegan Brown (99) 1-3 Boris Krcmar (61)
In the first leg, Krcmar had a chance for the break via 116, but he missed the double 18. Brown threw out 48 in two arrows via double 16 to take the lead. Krcmar had no trouble in the second leg and so it became 1-1.
The next two legs also went with the darts and so Brown got to start the last leg. He had 72 and that had to come out as Krcmar had 42 left. That 72 went out via tops and so the Englishman remained flawless on the doubles.
Krcmar takes over
Krcmar started the second set well with a 140 and a 180, eventually leaving 18 and hitting 1-0 via double 9. Brown did not throw well and saw Krcmar throw the second 180 of the match. Via double 8 he made it 2-0 and posted the first break of the match.
Krcmar remained the better player and was able to win the set from 101, but missed double 16. He was allowed to come back for it, but missed three arrows. 120 just did not go out for Brown and via double 4 it became 1-1.
Brown was allowed to start the set, but did not do very well. He held 40 but missed tops. What's hot, he hit double 5 and then missed double 15. Krcmar unwrapped the gift and made it 1-0.
In his own leg, 64 went out to make it 2-0. He picked up another break in the third leg. 106 went out via double 16, which he missed five times before that, to take a 2-1 lead. The Croatian already won six legs in a row.
The Croatian grabbed the rebreak as Brown failed to throw out 118. 81 did go out and so it became 1-1. Brown then grabbed a very important break in turn. Three darts from 36 did not go out and so Brown took advantage by throwing out 94: 2-1.
He only failed completely again in his own leg and so Krcmar had the chance for the fourth break of the match. 58 went out via two arrows and so it was 2-2. Brown had a triple problem as he just could not find them. Krcmar had all the time and via Shanghai 18 he won mer 3-1.
James Wade (13) 2-3 Matt Campbell (57)
Campbell started the match fine and easily got to the lead. He took the lead with double 8 and in the second leg he had a chance to break with double 20, but missed. Wade threw out 100 and did the same in the third leg.
Indeed, Campbell missed the bullseye on 170 and then 4 also failed to go out. Wade thus grabbed the break. Wade did miss three darts from 20 for the set, but Campbell did not take his chance. He too had 100 left, but missed tops twice. Wade then hit double 10 to lead 1-0.
Wade started the set and got away with it. Campbell had 70 left, but could not hit tops. Wade had 25 left, having missed bullseye the previous turn, and that went out via double 10. The Englishman opened strongly with two 140s, followed by 100.
Campell had the first chance to finish with 161, but that did not go out. Wade missed bullseye and so Campbell came back for 75, which went out via double 12 to make it 1-1. Campbell grabbed the break by throwing out 98 to make it 2-1. Via double 16 he took the set and it became 1-1.
Exciting sequel

The breaking point came in Campbell's leg. Wade had 132 left and that went out via 19 single bull and bullseye. 49 also went out in two arrows and so Wade took the set.
Campbell played a good fourth set which he won very quickly. 68 went out in the first leg, the second went out via double 18 and so did the third. So it quickly became 2-2.
Campbell decides it
Campbell pressed on and continued to finish well, this time 86 went out. Wade had to throw out 141 in his leg to stay in the match, as Campbell had 40 left. Wade missed, but so did Campbell. Wade had 16 left and he also missed. Campbell had 5 left and hit double 1 and was on match point.
Campbell had six arrows for 164 and held 75 left with three arrows. He missed a matchdart on tops and Wade had 24 left and threw out. He thus grabbed the break back. Wade had 156 left but did not throw out.
Campbell failed to find a triple at 112 and so Wade was allowed to return for 56. He missed single 16 and had only one arrow for the 2-2 and missed. Campbell threw out 36 via double 18 and won the match.
