Michael van Gerwen warmed up for his defence of next week's World Matchplay with a convincing run to the Poland Darts Masters title in Warsaw, seeing off 2023 Premier League rival Dimitri van den Bergh in the final 8-3 on Saturday evening.

The Dutch world number three averaged more than 113 in the final, throwing six 180s and checking out at 47%.

His run also included the scalps of Michael Smith and Luke Humphries on his way to back-to-back World Tour titles following his win in the US last month.

Earlier in the day, the home crowd had some hope of cheering on Krzysztof Ratajski throughout the day, however the Pole was unable to get by Van Den Bergh, losing 6-3 in their last eight clash.

On his run to the final, the Belgian also held his nerve to beat former world champion Gerwyn Price 7-6 in a game where neither player caught fire.

Attention now turns to Blackpool and the World Matchplay - a competition part of the Triple Crown - where The Green Machine, Van Gerwen, will be looking to defend his crown, a feat he achieved in 2014 and 2015.
