Chelsea are lining up to be one of the busiest clubs in the Premier League during January, with a number of deals on the table and a seemingly endless list of transfer targets.

Graham Potter hasn't had the best of starts in London but now has the chance to mould the squad in a way that will suit his managerial style.

A number of players are reportedly set to join the Blues in the coming days including the already confirmed David Datro Fofana.

Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile is set to undergo a medical in the coming days, and 18-year-old Brazilian Andrey Santos is also due to arrive at Stamford Bridge.

These three players - as well as a plethora of other links - make for an exciting January window for Chelsea fans.

Positions to strengthen

Reece James has seen his season hampered by injuries over the last few months, meaning Chelsea could be looking to add another wing-back to their squad.

The imminent arrival of Badiashile means the centre of defence is very low on the priority list - and the recent resurgence of Kepa Arrizabalaga makes a move for another goalkeeper seem unlikely.

A number of players in midfield have uncertain futures under Potter - with the likes of N'Golo Kante and Jorginho yet to renew their contracts.

This opens the door for a younger player to come in and have a long future with the club.

Chelsea have a number of talented attackers, but none of their strikers have hit the heights expected when playing for a side in the Champions League.

Armando Broja is out injured for the rest of the season which could result in some transfer activity on that front.

Rumoured targets

With James' injury troubles over the last season, Chelsea will be looking to bring in a right back to prvide some solid cover and competition for when their main man is back fit again.

Josip Juranovic of Celtic could be a good option - not costing a great deal and coming off the back of a fantastic World Cup with Croatia.

Two other players who put in superb showings at the World Cup were Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham.

Both of which have been consistantly linked with the Blues over the last couple of windows, although both would command huge transfer fees.

Enzo Fernandez has also been looked at and would be a huge addition after winning the young player of the tournament award at the World Cup.

Again, Fernandez would cost an astronomical amount - reportedly close to £106 million (as reported by Fabrizio Romano) - but don't be shocked if the Blues pull the trigger and bring in one of the hottest prospects in Europe.

Fellow Argentine Alexis Mac Allister could also be a target and of course would be linking up with his former Brighton manager Potter.

Moving further up the pitch, a deal for Christopher Nkunku has been suggested in the media for some time now but there have been a lack of updates in recent weeks.

The Frenchman is another player who can fill in up front but isn't really an out-and-out striker.

Other options include Borussia Dortmund youngster Youssofa Moukoko who is out of contract in the summer, although the recent arrival of Fofana may cool any immediate need for another number nine.

Those who may leave

Both Kante and Jorginho are out of comtract in the summer and yet to sign new deals.

That leaves them vulnerable to a January exit but likely only when a replacement comes in.

Out-of-favour wingers Christan Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech could also leave if sufficent bids were made, and the future of Edouard Mendy is uncertain with the goalkeeper losing the number one spot to Arrizabalaga.
