Fluminense president urges Thiago Silva to leave Chelsea in summer
"I'm very good friends with Thiago (Silva), I talk to him about various subjects and not just about coming to Fluminense," Bittencourt said during the Super Fut Summit 2024 conference, held in Rio de Janeiro.
"At the moment, we don't have anything, but we have a huge desire for him to return home. From what we've heard, his contract with Chelsea runs out in the middle of the year and he wouldn't renew it," said the manager.
"I believe that, in Brazil, his desire is to play for Fluminense. As soon as he's cleared at Chelsea, we'll go back to the drawing board (to try to sign him). And he will help us in this very important year," he concluded.
The defender, who will turn 40 in August, has a contract with Chelsea until the end of the current European season, which ends in June 2024.
He hasn't played in Laranjeiras since 2009, when he left Flu for AC Milan.
