Dortmund interested in Manchester City talent Shea Charles
Thanks to investments from the United Arab Emirates, Manchester City have built one of the most modern youth centres in Europe.
Several famous players like Phil Foden passed through the youth teams of the Citizens, but some players from City's youth teams are often transferred to other clubs before they have even played a game for the professional team.
Borussia Dortmund have already benefited from this low level of transfer in the past: Jadon Sancho moved from City's youth team to Dortmund in 2017 for around €20 million and was sold on to Manchester United in 2021 for a fee of €85 million. Now the next top talent is under black-and-yellow observation.
Shea Charles is captain of City's U21s and obviously feels ready for the step into top European football.
Most recently, he was in the starting line-up in both of Northern Ireland's European Championship qualifiers.
In total, he has already made six appearances for his home country, prefering to play in defensive midfield.
According to media reports by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and the Bild-Zeitung, Borussia sporting director Sebastian Kehl is very interested in signing Charles.
As of now, negotiations have likely not yet taken place.
