Arsenal's Fabio Vieira to miss 'several weeks' after undergoing surgery
Portuguese footballer Fabio Vieira underwent surgery on his groin area on Monday and will be out of action for "several weeks", Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said on Wednesday.
The Portuguese midfielder underwent the operation on the advice of medical specialists, with the Gunners coach revealing that the player initially underwent more conservative treatment.
Fabio Vieira, 23, is in his second season at Arsenal, who signed him from FC Porto for €35 million.
The coach discussed the midfielder's situation at the press conference ahead of Wednesday's Champions League match with Lens, in a group that the Londoners lead with nine points, ahead of PSV and Lens, with five, and Sevilla, with two.
