Championship round-up: Burnley stunned by QPR and Wigan win again
Here's the latest from all of Saturday's EFL Championship fixtures:
Birmingham 0-1 Blackpool
Blackpool ran out 1-0 winners at St Andrews stadium as they defeated a frustrated Birmingham City. The victory was the Seasiders’ first in H2H’s at this venue since 2008 (D3, L4).
Bristol City 2-1 Rotherham
Andreas Weimann's injury-time winner gave Bristol City their first H2H league double over Rotherham United in 26 years to potentially plunge the Millers into further relegation turmoil, following a 2-1 victory over the troubled Yorkshire side.
Burnley 1-2 QPR
Queens Park Rangers pulled off a shock win at Turf Moor to claim three huge points in their bid for Championship survival, defeating Champions-elect Burnley to claim their first away league victory of the year.
Cardiff 1-1 Stoke
Relegation-threatened Cardiff came from behind to salvage a point as they drew 1-1 with Stoke City, further raising their hopes of extending the club's stay of more than two decades in the first or second tier of English football.
Coventry 2-1 Reading
A whirlwind exchange of goals in the second half gave Reading only a brief glimmer of hope that they could escape the bottom three. But it was to be Coventry’s day, with a 2-1 victory launching them into fifth spot for the time being.
Hull 1-0 Watford
Watford’s chances of securing a Championship play-off spot were all but ended with defeat to Hull City, extending the Hornets’ winless competitive away streak to nine games.
Norwich 0-3 Swansea
A disastrous first half saw Norwich City finish with 10 men as they capitulated at home in a bruising 3-0 defeat to Swansea City to leave their play-off aspirations in serious doubt. The Canaries have failed to win four successive home league matches outside of the top flight without scoring at Carrow Road for the first time since 1920.
Wigan 2-1 Millwall
Wigan Athletic kept their slim hopes of Championship survival alive with a superb 2-1 win over play-off chasing Millwall, claiming a third consecutive home victory over the South Londoners.
Preston 1-1 Blackburn
Blackburn Rovers' play-off hopes took another blow as a second late equaliser of the week saw Preston North End hold them to a 1-1 draw. Rovers remain one of only three teams in the division yet to record an away 0-0 in the Championship this season.
