There were no fewer than three comebacks in the Championship over the weekend, with teams coming from behind to seal a point or a victory in dramatic fashion.

Coventry netted three second-half goals to defeat Luton, Plymouth came from 3-0 down to draw against Preston while Norwich netted two late on to snatch a point off of Middlesbrough.

Elsewhere, Sunderland made it three wins within a week as they beat Oxford 2-0 to extend their lead at the top of the table to five points and Sheffield United got back to winning ways with a comfortable victory against Stoke.

As always, Flashscore has gathered all the key talking points from the latest round of Championship action.

Rooney and Plymouth show fight

Wayne Rooney has had to face plenty of criticism during his time as Plymouth manager, a lot of it slightly unfair, but his side has shown they are capable of achieving their goal of staying in the division.

Their latest match looked to be a write-off with Argyle 3-0 down against Preston after 48 minutes, but the players showed significant fight and desire to mount a comeback and snatch a point in the 92nd minute.

Goals from youngster Frederick Issaka, veteran striker Andre Gray and star player Morgan Whittaker sealed a magnificent result for Rooney's side who looked dead and buried just half an hour earlier.

Plymouth were one of the favourites to be relegated at the start of the season and looked to be in serious trouble after losing their first match 4-0 against Sheffield Wednesday.

Since then, they have beaten Sunderland, Luton and Blackburn and picked up draws against QPR and Hull.

Despite the doubters, Rooney has managed to show that he can get a tune out of his squad and there is potential for a decent campaign if the Argyle players continue to show the same fight they did against Preston - results like that will be crucial come the end of the season.

While anything more than survival will be a bonus for Rooney and his players, Plymouth could be well-placed for a solid campaign if they can find some consistency in both attack and defence.

Sainz shines again for Norwich

One of the best players in the division this season has been Norwich's Borja Sainz, with the midfielder comfortably leading the scoring charts after netting 10 goals in 12 games.

The Spaniard scored twice in the Canaries' 3-3 draw with Middlesbrough and again proved himself as one of the league's best performers after an excellent display.

Norwich initially took the lead through Sainz after the midfielder smashed an effort into the top corner from 25 yards before finding themselves 3-1 down after an exceptional comeback from Middlesbrough.

Tommy Conway's brace was added to by Finn Azaz on the stroke of half-time but the visitors failed to wrap up the points after Conway missed a penalty midway through the second half.

They were punished shortly after with Sainz scoring yet another incredible goal, curling an effort under the bar from the corner of the area.

A bizarre Seny Dieng own goal followed less than 10 minutes later and the match would end 3-3 despite Norwich's Kenny McClean being sent off in the dying moments.

Both sides had an opportunity to push into the play-off places but neither could capitalise - highlighting just how tough the Championship can be.

For Sainz, though, it's becoming his playground and the Spaniard is quickly developing into one of the best players in the league.

Luton's woes continue

Many supporters thought Luton had finally turned a corner with their 3-0 win over Watford two weekends ago, but the Hatters have fallen back into disarray after two defeats in a row.

They met with league leaders Sunderland during the week and were unlucky to come away with nothing after a battling 2-1 defeat but should have bounced back against Coventry on Saturday.

Rob Edwards' side conceded plenty of possession but found themselves in a comfortable 2-0 lead at half-time after goals from strike partnership Carlton Morris and Elijah Adebayo.

Unfortunately - kick-starting a common theme across the weekend - Luton were unable to hold out for a valuable three points.

Coventry fought back with goals from Ellis Simms and Victor Torp before Hatters defender Tom Holmes was shown a second yellow card in the 90th minute.

That opened up an opportunity for Haji Wright to capitalise and net a 92nd-minute winner to secure a much-needed three points for his side.

Coventry have surprised many this season by seriously struggling but the Sky Blues are now a point above the relegation zone - leapfrogging Luton in the table after an excellent comeback win.

The Hatters need fresh ideas quickly to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle but it will be a difficult decision for the board as to whether or not Edwards is the right man to lead that change.

Smith's peach of a strike

Sheffield Wednesday's Michael Smith scored a magnificent effort in the Owls' 2-1 win against Portsmouth.

The striker netted a superb effort from distance after curling the ball first-time into the top corner in what will be in with a shout for Goal of the Season come the end of the campaign.

Wednesday have had a bit of an indifferent start to the season but now find themselves pushing towards the top half and just four points outside the play-offs.

Conway bags brace for Boro

As mentioned earlier, Middlesbrough's Tommy Conway netted two goals in their 3-3 draw with Norwich and was unlucky not to get a hat-trick after failing to convert from the penalty spot.

The young strike has impressed since joining in the summer and now has four goals to his name, while his performance at the weekend earned him a Flashscore rating of 8.6.

That was the highest of any player in the division, making Conway our Player of the Week - take a look at who made our regular Top 11 (based solely on Flashscore player ratings):
