Hasselbaink joins up with England squad for first session as new coach
The Dutchman was hired to replace the outgoing Chris Powell, who left after his two-tournament contract expired in order to focus on his Tottenham academy coaching role.
Hasselbaink and England manager Gareth Southgate know each other well, having played together at Middlesbrough between 2004 and 2006.
The 50-year-old took part in sessions at the Three Lions' base at St George's Park ahead of the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Italy on Thursday and Ukraine on Sunday.
Southgate will be hoping Hasselbaink can bring increased value to his squad - particularly in the attacking department - with the former striker notching up nine goals in 23 appearances for the Netherlands, as well as a total of 127 goals and 58 assists in 288 Premier League appearances.
He was seen working particularly closely with in-form Brentford striker Ivan Toney during Tuesday's session.
Hasselbaink has experienced a mixed spell in coaching and management since hanging up his boots in 2008, with solid-if-unremarkable stints at QPR, Northampton and most recently Burton Albion - whom he departed in September last year.
The appointment continues the FA's ongoing commitment to increasing diversity by providing roles and opportunities to coaches from black and minority ethnic backgrounds.
