Bernardo Silva has welcomed Manchester City making a move for Joao Neves and says he would like to play next to the Benfica midfielder at the Etihad Stadium.

Silva has been previewing Portugal's friendly against Croatia, which takes place on Saturday at Estadio Nacional in Lisbon.

On becoming a coach in the future: "First of all, I'd like to say a word to the U17s who had a spectacular European Championship, I've also lost a final of a U21 Championship, but they had a fantastic campaign.

"For now I'm very happy as a player and I'm not thinking about it yet. I'm grateful for the coach's words, I'm proud that he feels that way.

"If I had to choose a deputy it would be Ruben Dias, he sees football the same way I do and he's a great friend, so the relationship would be easy."

On Joao Neves: "I'd tell him to come to Manchester City. It's not easy, he's a player who, given his success last season, many clubs want. I don't have any inside information, but from what I hear. As a Portuguese, and as a player I really appreciate, I'd like to see him alongside me, but he has to choose what's best for him.

"I don't need to convince (Pep) Guardiola, he convinces by the way he works. I don't think it will be easy, because he's not a cheap player."

On Croatian Man City teammates Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic: "They're two friends, they just arrived at Manchester City and we already have a strong relationship with them.

"We talked about this game, of course. We know it's important, but it's not the most important because the aim is to prepare as well as possible for the European Championship, but to continue with the positive energy that Portugal have shown over the last year.

"We're focusing on playing a good game, preparing in the best possible way, seeing what's not going to go well in order to arrive in the best possible shape and that's the most important thing."

On playing at Estadio Nacional: "I've never played at Jamor and that makes it even more special. If the coach decides that I'm going to play tomorrow, it'll be my first game in a stadium that's very important to all of us Portuguese and I'm really looking forward to it."

On his conversation with the President of the Republic: "He tried to get us to promise that we wouldn't be back until July 15th and we're going to do our best with all the ambition we have. The President gave us positive energy to do our best".
