Bayern Munich's young midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic will have to wait a little longer for his debut for the German national team after being ruled out of friendlies against France and the Netherlands later this month, the Bundesliga club said on Tuesday.

Pavlovic, who is enjoying a strong season at Bayern as a defensive midfielder, was one of the six new additions to German coach Julian Nagelsmann's squad for the two friendlies, but will now miss them due to tonsillitis.

The Germans, hosts of Euro 2024 which starts on 14 June, travel to France on 23 March before hosting the Dutch three days later, with Nagelsmann keen to test the players as he looks to build a team ready for the tournament which less than 100 days away.

Nagelsmann, who took over after Hansi Flick's resignation in September, had a mixed start with a win and a draw during a trip to the USA in October, followed by two consecutive defeats in Austria and at home against Turkey in November.

The Germans will face Ukraine in Nuremberg on 3 June, before taking on Greece in Moenchengladbach four days later in the last friendly games before the start of Euro 2024.
