Ireland's St. Patricks Athletic have been beaten 2-1 by Luxembourg club F91 Dudelange in the first leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier.

St. Pats enjoyed a fair share of the ball in the first period, but were unable to break down the opposition's defence.

In fact, it was Dudelange who made the most of their possession and peppered the travelling side's goal, taking the lead just before the half-hour mark.

Assisted by Sylvio Ouassiero, Oege-Sietse van Lingen made no mistake in front of goal, despite an impressive showing by St. Pats' Dean Lyness in-between the sticks.

Dudelange took their superior form into the second period and doubled their lead by the 59th minute through Yahcuroo Roemer, who was assisted by Bruno Freire.

The Irish side were handed a lifeline in the dying embers of the match, though, when Mark Doyle struck gold with a solo effort in time added on.

St. Pats now wait to host Dudelange in the reverse leg on July 20th.
