England beat Scotland 3-1 at Hampden Park in a friendly to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the oldest international football match in history. Recap on all the action below.

22:40 BST - And that concludes our coverage tonight. Thanks for joining us!

22:20 BST - England manager Gareth Southgate told Channel 4 he was "really pleased" with the Three Lions' performance over Scotland. "We were excellent in all phases of the game.

"We wanted to control the crowd and show compousure. We were a threat. I thought the players from one to 11 - and subs - did well.

"We’ve been playing pretty well. I know the roof caved in at the weekend with the result (against Ukraine), but we've made a significant step towards qualifying. We want to keep getting better and better."

On Bellingham, and whether he had to put in an improved performance tonight, he added: "He doesn't have a point to prove to us, we know he is a really good player.

"Saturday was not his best game, but we weren't at the level we wanted to be and we knew he has a fantastic personality to come back from that.

"His performances have been outstanding and one performance isn't going to change that. As an attacking eight, or where he played tonight, he looks to get into the box.

"Tonight his athleticism to press was so important. Scotland's system is difficult to play against so we slightly changed our system and he did that well."

22:15 BST - Scotland manager Steve Clarke has been giving his reaction to Channel 4.

He said: "England started like the top side they are. We're not there but we're trying to develop, trying to get better. We've always come back stronger from adversity and let's hope that's the case.

"Andy (Robertson) made a mistake for the second goal - that happens in football. We're capable of scoring goals against top teams and hopefully we take that to Spain next month.

"When you play against a side as good as England you have to get everything 100% correct. We didn't do that tonight, and that's why we lost the game."

"We've got a perfect record in the qualifying group. We're in a good place."

22:10 BST - Jude Bellingham told Channel 4 that he was inspired to put in an improved performance against Scotland after Saturday's disappointing draw. "I wasn’t happy with how I played in Poland against Ukraine.

"Tonight I was motivated to get back to my best, and I think that was close to it," he said.

"It was more than a friendly. It means so much to the fans, for bragging rights and all those kinds of things, and I wanted the England fans to go home happy.

"We were massively disappointed with Saturday’s performance. It’s a great mentality to have; never being satisfied, never making excuses and always trying to improve.

"We don't see each other often so results like this help to build camaraderie."

90 + 3 - Full-time! England have won the 116th edition of the oldest international football match in history!

Kane, Bellingham and Foden with the goals for the Three Lions, with Maguire's own goal the only hiccup on an otherwise superb evening for Southgate's men.

Scotland will be bitterly disappointed with putting in such a poor performance and will have to wait to be assured of qualifying for Euro 2024 after Norway beat Georgia 2-1 in Oslo.

90 - We'll have three minutes of injury time at Hampden Park.

89 - We're into stoppage time in Oslo and Georgia have pulled one back against Norway! Budu Zivzivadze with a stunning goal. If Georgia score again, Scotland will be going to Euro 24!

88 - The tempo has definitely died down with some Scotland fans already heading towards the exits.

Another couple of changes for the Tartan Army. McGregor and Hickey come off for Jack and Patterson.

85 - That goal was a real sucker punch for Scotland who were close to drawing level moments earlier. Prior to tonight, Scotland had lost just once in their past 19 home games across all competitions, winning the past six in a row.

This has been some performance from England - who are on their way to their 600th win.

83 - That's Kane's 59th England goal and his final one tonight, as he's coming off with Bellingham. They're replaced by Wilson and Gallagher.

81 - Goal! Patient build-up play from England with the ball spread across the pitch before Bellingham takes control and threads a sumptuous pass to Kane in the box, who shoots low beyond the despairing dive of Gunn. 1-3!

76 - Norway are still 2-0 up against Georgia. Scotland won't be the first team to qualify for Euro 24 tonight, as things stand.

75 - Bellingham wiggles past five, six Scotland players but his deflected shot is prodded clear by Gunn.

71 - What a chance for England! Eze collects a wonderful pass and is one-on-one with Gunn but shoots straight at the goalkeeper.

70 - Changes for England. Eze and Saka on for Rashford and Foden.

69 - Robertson's cross is headed wide by Dykes. Moments later another cross from Robertson is headed over by McGinn. They're getting closer!

67 - Goal! Scotland have a way back! Robertson charges into the box and puts a low cross into the path of Maguire who prods past Ramsdale for an own goal! 1-2.

Hampden Park is rocking.

64 - How calm was that! Dunk blocks a Christie shot and moments later comfortably chests a cross back to Ramsdale to collect.

62 - England are enjoying 62% possession as Scotland go on a rare attack. Robertson crosses into the box but there's no blue shirts anywhere nearby. From the throw-in Christie takes the ball and spanks a low effort wide.

60 - Hickey overhits the pass and Ramsdale collects theatrically. That's the closest Scotland have come.

58 - Kane attempts to chip the ball into the top corner from six yards, but the ball takes a slight deflection off Tierney and goes over. No corner though?

Scotland make a double change. Adams comes off for Christie, Dykes replaces Gilmour.

56 - Neat build-up play on the left with Bellingham, Rashford and Trippier all involved, but the ball eventally drifts out of play.

54 - Another period of possession for England ends with a Scotland throw in deep in their own half.

Steve Clarke looks to make a change.

51 - England enjoy a decent amount of possession as the away fans start Ole'ing. Scotland snatch back control but Foden, quick as flash, takes control.

48 - Rod Stewart has just been shown watching the match in the stands. I wonder what he's making of all this?

"I don't want to talk about it", probably.

47 - England have begun the second half as they played the first. Scotland need to do something and get a grip of this game.

45 - England get the second half underway. Maguire comes on for Guehi.

45 + 1 - Half-time!

Not the best 45 minutes for Scotland with the Three Lions dominating play, while in Oslow Norway are 2-0 up against Georgia.

Half-time stats

45 + 1 - Foden tries to find Kane in the box, but his pass is flashed across the face of goal and the chance goes begging.

45 - There will be just one minute of time added on at the end of the first half.

43 - Those two quick-fire England goals have stunned Scotland, who have yet to have a shot on Ramsdale's goal.

41 - Phillips is shown a yellow for a dangerous tackle before Bellingham and Hendry square up earning a booking apiece. Scotland have a free kick that's deflected behind for a corner.

36 - Scotland appeal for a penalty as the ball deflects off the arm of the falling Guehi. VAR take a look at it before play resumes.

Norway are 2-0 up in Oslo, with Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard delaying the celebrations for Scotland.... so far.

34 - Goal! Foden whips in a cross for Kane six-yards out, but the Bayern captain can't control it. The ball ricochets to Robertson to clear, but he makes a complete hash of it with Bellingham lashing past Gunn for number two! 0-2.

31 - Goal! Wonderful England goal. Foden probes on the edge of the box and passes to Bellingham who threads it through to Rashford who taps it to Walker. Walker thumps a low drive that Foden pokes in from close range for his fourth international goal. 0-1.

30 - Porteous starts a terrific passing move for Scotland on the right, but Tierney's final ball loops over everyone in the box for a throw-in.

26 - Brilliant defending from Scotland. Bellingham passes to Walker who tries to find Kane in the box, but the ball is intercepted superbly by Hendry at the near post. England's corner comes to nothing.

Meanwhile Norway are 1-0 up, Erling Haaland - who else? - with the goal.

23 - Back to Hampden Park and England are on the attack. Rashford passes to Bellingham and his lofted pass in the box finds Walker who shoots narrowly wide. Close for England.

Walker scored his first international goal against Ukraine on Saturday, can he find the back of the net tonight?

22 - It's currently 0-0 between Norway and Georgia. If that stays the same, Scotland will be the first team to qualify for Euro 2024!

You can follow the match in Oslo here.

21 - England are controlling the match so far with 60% possession. What can Scotland do about this?

19 - Rashford is put through yet again on the left. He backheels to Bellingham who is brought down in the box, but the referee blows for offside. A huge let off for Scotland.

17 - Rice wins the ball in the England half as it makes its way to Rashford, but the ball is too strong for Kane.

Moments later Rashford is put through through and passes to Foden 12 yards out - but the Man City midfielder, playing his first match since England's World Cup quarter-final defeat to France, flashes his shot miles over the bar!

A great chance!

14 - Scotland win a free kick. It's about 25 yards out... Robertson floats the ball in to Porteous but the ball is hoofed clear. Kane is through as Dunk comes rushing out to clear the danger.

It's end-to-end at the minute!

12 - Kane and Rashford are through on goal but Porteous comes across to swipe the ball away. Excellent defending.

8 - England string a few passes together before Rashford wins a free-kick on the halfway line. Scotland are going toe-to-toe in the early stages, but can they build on this?

6 - Hickey heads behind under pressure. Corner number three for England... but Dunk heads over.

4 - England have failed to win in four of their past six away games but have started brightly tonight, looking especially assured in defence.

Rashford wins another corner for the Three Lions.

3 - The ball falls to Rice, but his cross is easily punched away by Gunn.

2 - Scotland have won 15 of their past 21 games, winning the past five in a row, but it's England who win the first corner...

0 - Referee Davide Massa blows the whilstle and the 116th meeting between these sides - the oldest football fixture in history - is underway!

England have won 48, Scotland 41. Will that change tonight?

19:45 BST - The stadium falls silent - mostly - as the players and fans pay respect to Craig Brown, who died earlier this year aged 82, and the victims of the Morocco earthquake.

19:41 BST - Friendly? What friendly! God Save the King is roundly booed as the Flower of Scotland rings around Hampden Park. We're minutes away from kick-off...

19:40 BST - The players are in the tunnel and the noise levels are cracking up a notch!

19:15 BST - And here's how the teams will line up tonight...

Scotland remain unchanged, England make six changes from the draw against Ukraine: in come Ramsdale, Tripper, Dunk, Phillips, Foden Rashford.

19:10 BST - Away from Hamden Park for a moment as The Tartan Army will be keeping an eye on events at the Ullevall Stadion in Oslo, and the Group A clash between Norway and Georgia.

If that match is drawn, Scotland will be the first team to qualify for Euro 2024!

We'll keep you updated with all the key moments from that match.

19:00 BST - Hello and welcome along to the Scotland v England live blog!

These two nations are meeting to mark the 150th anniversary of the oldest international football match in history - a goalless draw between these sides on 30 November 1872.

That was 151 years ago, but as the anniversary took place in the middle of the World Cup in Qatar, these two are marking the occasion at Hampden Park tonight.

Scotland are looking to win their first match against England since 1999 and hopes are high as they come in to the game nine points clear at the top of their Euro 2024 qualifying group.

England however would love to spoil the party and will be looking for a reaction to their tame 1-1 draw against Ukraine on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm.

Preview

A special night awaits in Glasgow, the site of the first-ever men’s international match, as Scotland and England battle in this '150th Anniversary Heritage Match'.

The all-time record after 115 prior meetings is surprisingly tight, with Scotland just being edged out (W41, D26, L48), but that won’t faze the Scots this time as they enter this with supreme confidence after winning all five of their European Championship Qualifiers (ECQ) in the run-up.

That record may well already be enough to secure successive Euro finals appearances, meaning Scotland fans will be keeping a close eye on the events in the Norway vs Georgia contest which will be played simultaneously with this one, as a draw will see their place at Euro 2024 confirmed.

Boss Steve Clarke said “the Tartan Army can get excited”, but they’ll need to remain level-headed if they want to claim the bragging rights in this battle of Britain.

After a rather pedestrian performance in a 1-1 draw against Ukraine, England boss Gareth Southgate will hope to alleviate some of the criticism sent his way with a stronger showing in this special encounter.

Granted, England have lost just once across their last 11 internationals (W7, D3, L1), but the persistence to call up some of the perceived ‘old guard’ in the squad over other in-form stars has seen Southgate thrust into the firing line.

It’s not outside the realms of possibility for things to get worse for England here, as no clean sheets in any of the 15 friendly H2Hs since that historic 0-0 draw in 1872 (W5, D1, L9) suggests bragging rights are certainly not assured.

But a run of ten straight wins, eight of which were accompanied by a clean sheet, against any opponent in friendly action should be enough to justify England’s hot favourites status ahead of this clash.

Key battle: After scoring just once in his first 37 Scotland caps, midfield man Scott McTominay has found the net six times across his last five.

He will in part try to keep a lid on England and Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, who scored his first goal for the Gunners in a win over McTominay’s Manchester United just prior to the international break.

Hot streak: Scotland have won five straight internationals with 2+ scored goals for the first time since a run of six in 1949.
