Former Milan and Napoli coach Gattuso joins Hajduk Split
As a footballer, he remains a legend - but as a coach, he has recently been quick to say goodbye to his teams.
For Valencia, the results were abysmal and he lasted just 22 games; things were better at Marseille - his most recent job - but not good enough to last more than 24 games.
Gattuso had been out of work since February, when he parted company with the Côte d'Azur.
He's now moving from Italy to the other side of the Adriatic Sea with the aim of rebuilding domestic giants Hajduk Split.
It'll be recalled that Split not only lost out to eternal rivals Dinamo Zagreb in the league, but they also finished the season in third - behind Rijeka.
As Hajduk rightly pointed out in the official announcement on their website, Gattuso's last impressive stint as a coach was during his time at Napoli, where he managed to produce an average of 1.89 points per game from 2019 to 2021, winning the Coppa Italia with the team after many years without silverware.
The drought continues on the Adriatic, where Hajduk have not claimed the domestic crown for 19 years.
Since then, they have only managed to win Croatia's domestic cup three times.
Split will be Gattuso's eighth job in seven years.
