Roberto Soldado has decided to call time on his professional playing career at the age of 38.

Real Madrid, Osasuna, Getafe, Valencia, Tottenham, Villarreal, Fenerbahçe, Granada, Levante and, of course, the Spanish national team. Roberto Soldado has served all of them with goals throughout his more than two decades as a footballer.

Now, after finishing his contract with Levante without being able to return to La Liga, he has decided that it is time to stop and say "goodbye".

"I have to tell you one thing: today I am ending 21 years of my career and with it I am ending a dream that I never thought would come true, let alone last so long.

"Thanks to my colleagues, friends, family, coaches and fans who have accompanied me on this journey. Farewell."

Soldado leaves with a portfolio full of goals: 201 in 559 official club appearances. He also scored 70 times with Castilla and ten times for Spain's senior national team.
