Kylian Mbappe tells PSG he intends to leave club at end of this season
The France World Cup winner has been in a long-term back-and-forth with his club for several seasons, with his future a constant topic of debate in recent transfer windows.
Mbappe has long been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid and is available to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of this season.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United have also all held a long-standing interest in the player, but it is thought a move to the Bernabeu has always been his only chosen destination.
Saudi Arabian team Al Hilal made a shock record €300 million bid for the pacey forward in July last year but the move was rejected by the player himself.
The 25-year-old earns a reported €200 million annually (£171 million).
However, he could be forced to make a financial sacrifice to leave the club, with terms purportedly agreed between the parties last summer that the club would not lose out financially should the player leave at the end of his deal.
Some reports suggest his contract includes a one-year extension clause.
It is understood PSG and Mbappe will make a formal announcement once this is agreed upon in the next weeks or months.
With PSG, Mbappe has won five Ligue 1 titles and three Coupes de France, including a domestic quadruple in the 2019/20 season.
He is also already the club's all-time record scorer with 243 goals, including 168 in the league.
Most recently, Mbappe netted in PSG's Champions League last 16 first-leg win over Real Sociedad on Wednesday night.
