Former England striker Andy Carroll has joined French fourth-tier side Bordeaux from Amiens.

A former player with Liverpool, West Ham and Newcastle, among others, Carroll arrived in France last year and seems to be settling in well.

After spending a season at Amiens, the 35-year-old striker looked set to continue his adventure in Picardy.

However, despite playing in the first four games of Ligue 2, the England international has opted for the challenge of Bordeaux.

The Girondins, currently in the Championnat National 2, are desperate to climb up the table if they are to avoid the drop again, and they need to build a solid team to do so.

Bruno Irles will be able to call on the experience of a player who scored four goals in 35 games for Amiens.

Bordeaux are second from bottom with two draws and one defeat after three games.
