Arsenal sign Declan Rice from West Ham for club-record £105m fee
Rice, 24, has penned a five-year deal at the Emirates Stadium with the option for an additional year and becomes the Gunners' third acquisition of the summer after Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber.
The deal eclipses the £72m figure Arsenal paid for Nicolas Pepe to Lille in 2019, while it is just short of the £105.6m fee Chelsea paid Benfica for Enzo Fernandez in January.
The £105m fee is broken down into a payment of £100m spread over 24 months plus £5m worth of add-ons, which are £1m each time Arsenal gain Champions League qualification and Rice plays in 60 per cent of matches.
The fee for Rice, who will wear the number 41 shirt, is also a Premier League record for a British player.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told the club's official website: "We're really happy that Declan is joining us. He is a player with tremendous ability, who has been performing at a high level in the Premier League and for England for a number of seasons now.
"Declan is bringing undoubted quality to the club and he is an exceptional talent who has the potential to be very successful here.
"Declan has great experience in the Premier League at only 24 years old. He has captained a very good West Ham team and as we all saw, he recently lifted a European trophy.
"The responsibility and role he has taken on has been very impressive and we are really excited that he is joining us."
Arsenal capture of Rice brings an end to a lengthy transfer chase which saw them have two earlier bids rejected by West Ham.
Manchester City matched the latter of Arsenal's bids which stood at £90m but pulled out of the running to leave Arteta's side in pole position.
Rice had one year on his West Ham contract but a departure this summer was confirmed last month by chairman David Sullivan after the club's Europa Conference League triumph.
Rice made 245 appearances for West Ham after coming through the side's youth system.
