Bournemouth made it four games without a win after failing to overcome Nottingham Forest at home in a 1-1 draw despite taking the lead within the first five minutes.

On the back of failures to pick up Premier League victories in midweek, these two bottom-half battlers were looking for an improvement at the Vitality Stadium. It was the home side that bounced back first adding an early goal after Forest failed to deal with a corner.

Uncharacteristically for a side that had scored a league-low of 11 goals at home this season, the Cherries showed great killer instinct, first by Luis Sinisterra who flicked on a header towards the back post and then by Justin Kluivert to make sure the ball went in for 1-0.

After precariously starting the day one point above the relegation zone Forest needed a response after going behind and they nearly had it through Taiwo Awoniyi.

The forward looked dangerous on only his second game back from a lengthy injury lay-off, testing Neto with a powerful shot after beating a defender.

The visitors were rewarded for their persistence right on the stroke of HT, Callum Hudson-Odoi scored only his second league goal of the campaign with a lovely curling effort from the edge of the area to make it 1-1 at the break.

The statistics were stacked against Forest heading into this fixture, having lost five of their last seven H2Hs against Bournemouth and never winning an away Premier League fixture on a Sunday.

But here they played confidently, looking the more likely team to find a winner in the second half, keeping Neto in goal busy throughout the afternoon.

Any chance of a winner for Bournemouth was scuppered when Philip Billing made a very rash challenge on Hudson-Odoi that left Rebecca Welch no choice but to brandish the straight red card.

The Cherries did well to see out the final ten minutes and claim a hard-fought 1-1 draw against a clearly improving Nottingham Forest side under the leadership of Nuno Espírito Santo.
