Juventus with room to breathe in second after Cremonese win
The hosts were made to work hard for the victory but netted twice after the break to move back into second place in Serie A, eight points clear of fifth-placed AC Milan.
The game settled into a rhythm fairly quickly, as the visitors sat deep with ten men behind the ball, meaning the Old Lady could dominate possession.
They did relatively little with it though, struggling to find that killer final pass and having to wait until the 18th minute for their first real chance, when Bremer headed over the bar.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side were then dealt a blow when Paul Pogba, making his first Serie A start in seven years, limped off with what looked like a muscle injury.
His replacement Arkadiusz Milik finally landed the first shot on target after the half-hour mark, though it was easily saved by Marco Carnesecchi, who made a further brave stop from the striker in injury time.
Juventus upped the tempo after the break and after Adrien Rabiot had seen an effort beaten away, the hosts took the lead through a stunning Nicolo Fagioli strike as he found the top corner with a thunderbolt from the edge of the box.
Federico Chiesa then nearly doubled the lead with a low shot that was blocked at the near post, while Milik had a goal ruled out for offside.
The second finally came with 11 minutes remaining when Bremer nodded home from close range, ending any forlorn hopes of a Cremonese revival.
Indeed, it will now take a miracle for Davide Ballardini’s side to avoid an immediate return to the second tier, as they sit six points from safety with just three games remaining.
