This week's top picks feature a duel between two giants of the Dutch game, a test for Jose Mourinho's inconsistent Roma and an important tie between two of League One's in-form sides.

Take a look at some of our top picks across Europe worth keeping an eye on over the weekend:

Milan v Verona - Ste Carson

Italian giants Milan are going to be in a ripe mood against Verona this coming weekend, following a defeat to city rivals Inter and a disappointing stalemate with Newcastle in the Champions League.

Fans of the Rossoneri will be well aware their team should have performed much better in both matches – and, indeed, the San Siro's next visitors could be in for a hiding because of that.

Verona, currently sat ninth in Serie A, aren't typically pushovers, but they do possess a horrible record against Milan – you'd have to go back three years for the last instance the Gialloblu picked up any points against them (a 2-2 draw).

Fun fact: Verona haven't beaten Milan at the San Siro since before the foundation of Serie A, in 1929.

That said, Verona have started the season somewhat well – with a 2-1 win over Jose Mourinho's Roma a stand-out result thus far. Milan, however, had a perfect start to the season (three wins from three), up until last week, before their derby defeat.

The experienced Olivier Giroud remains a constant threat for Milan, with four goals from as many Serie A appearances this season, and he will be looking to break the deadlock early against Verona to settle nerves.

The Veronese will be hoping Cyril Ngonge continues his fine form this season – with an eye for goal, the Belgian has two goals to his name in four matches so far this term, including his side's second in their 2-1 win over Roma.

Admittedly, before a ball has even been kicked, it is shaping up to be a bad afternoon for Verona in Milan, but the Rossoneri will need to relocate their form to ensure a winning result.

Torino v Roma - Joel Barnett

Which Roma will turn up on Sunday? The team that needed an 82nd-minute penalty to rescue a point against lowly Salernitana, or the side that beat Empoli 7-0 last time out?

It's been a disappointing start to the season for Jose Mourinho's team who have continued to struggle on the road - winning just once in their previous eight outings - including a 2-1 reverse against 10-man Verona.

Mourinho said there were things "he didn’t like" during their thumping win over Empoli, but at least he'll be relieved new signing Romelu Lukaku got his name on the scoresheet for the first time ahead of their clash with Torino. They will need the 30-year-old Chelsea loanee to be on top form at the Stadio Olimpico Grande.

Despite their 4-1 defeat at AC Milan, Il Toro have been defensively sound so far, keeping three clean sheets in all of their other matches with goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic looking unshakable at times.

They sit three points ahead of their under-pressure visitors who have already lost 50 per cent of their league fixtures this season, and Roma could find themselves seven points adrift of the Champions League places even before kick-off.

It is a match I Giallorossi can surely ill-afford to lose if they want to keep the pressure on returning to the top tier of club football next season.

Ajax v Feyenoord - Ali Pollock

The standout fixture over in the Eredivisie this weekend sees Ajax host Feyenoord – two of the league's 'big three' clubs going against each other.

While Ajax are regarded as one of the best sides in the Netherlands, their performances so far this season have not done that title justice.

They currently sit 12th in the Eredivisie after four games having collected just five points from one win, two draws and a loss.

In contrast, their opponents on Saturday find themselves in fourth spot and just a point behind table-toppers PSV – although they have played an extra game.

The visitors have by far the best attacking record in the division and have found the net 19 times from their five matches so far, averaging nearly four goals per game.

That spells trouble for a leaky Ajax defence who have kept only one clean sheet all season.

Santiago Gimenez is undoubtedly the danger man for Feyenoord having scored six goals in the league already – with the potential to exploit the host's poor defensive record.

Despite the Feyenoord attacking threat, Ajax do have some talented forwards of their own to call upon in Steven Bergwijn and Brain Brobbey, as well as Chuba Akpom and Carlos Borges who joined over the summer from Middlesbrough and Manchester City respectively.

Eintracht Frankfurt v Freiburg - Anthony Paphitis

Two of Germany's European representatives come together on Saturday when Eintracht Frankfurt take on Freiburg.

Both are likely to return to domestic action in relatively high spirits with Eintracht winning their Europa Conference League opener against Aberdeen and Freiburg beating Olympiacos on the roach in the Europa League.

Hosts Eintracht remain one of four teams unbeaten in the Bundesliga through four rounds, but that doesn't necessarily paint the full picture.

Dino Toppmoller's side have registered just one win so far with the rest of their record completed by three stalemates - all of which came by a 1-1 scoreline.

Die Adler (The Eagles) have also looked fairly limp in front of goal scoring just four times, although a stern back line has conceded on only three occasions - a league best.

Visitors Freiburg, meanwhile, would be situated at the opposite end of the spectrum with entertainment in their matches far from coming at a premium.

Breisgau-Brasilianer (Brazilians of Breisgau) have seen their games yield 15 goals this term, but manager Christian Streich will not exactly be pleased given 10 have gone into his side's net.

Nine of those were shipped in recent defeats to Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund, who scored twice beyond 88 minutes to take home a 4-2 victory.

So all in all, an interesting meeting at Deutsche Bank Park awaits between goal-shy Eintracht and leaky Freiburg - a different kind of unstoppable force versus immovable object.

Oxford v Exeter - Brad Ferguson

The two form sides in League One go toe-to-toe where just a point separates both teams, as well as the entire top five in the division.

Both clubs are coming of three consecutive league victories, so one side - if not both - will be seeing a good run come to an end in one way or another.

That being said, both are also coming off of frustrating victories in the EFL Trophy, with Oxford succumbing to a 1-0 loss at home to League Two strugglers MK Dons, while Exeter were on the end of an absolute pounding to Reading in midweek, shipping nine goals at home.

Safe to say, neither side will fancy losing this next one.

Fourth-placed Oxford are all about the goals in the league this season, netting 12 times so far in their seven fixtures and making them one of the more potent sides in the division.

They've got former Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Brentford midfielder Josh McEachran pulling strings in midfield while Tyler Goodrham and Mark Harris are showing some good early goalscoring form, netting three times each so far.

Visitors Exeter find themselves in second place having taken a more defensive approach.

The Grecians have only conceded four times so far this campaign, thanks in part to some stellar performances from keeper Viljami Sinisalo.

They'll likely be happy to take a point away in what is likely to be a tight game but don't be surprised to see a 1-0 scoreline going either way, with either side more focused on simply grinding out a positive result.
