Napoli have claimed a 2-0 win over Sassuolo but there was less success for Lazio, who were narrowly beaten 1-0 at home to Genoa.

Nice and Lyon played out a stalemate in the final Ligue 1 match of the weekend in France.

20:40 BST - We've reached half-time in the 7.45pm kick-offs across Europe.

Napoli lead Sassuolo 1-0 at the break thanks to a Victor Osimhen penalty and Lazio trail at home to Genoa.

In France, Nice and Lyon remain deadlocked at 0-0.

20:26 BST - Harry Kane seems to be right at home with new club Bayern Munich after adding another two goals in his side's 3-1 win over Augsburg on Sunday.

The England captain later said he is already "loving the chemistry" he is sharing with his new teammates and is looking forward to building on that going forward.

19:50 BST - The weekend's action is not over yet with some more fixtures across Europe getting underway.

In Italy, Serie A champions Napoli host Sassuolo and Lazio welcome Genoa to the Stadio Olimpico while in France, Nice face Lyon

19:32 BST - Nothing more to add at the Allianz Stadium. Juventus have been held to a 1-1 draw against Bologna. For now, they move up to fourth in the Serie A table.

19:13 BST - Juventus have found an equaliser against Bologna and it's Dusan Vlahovic who gets it.

This one will stand - will anyone be able to find a winner with around 10 minutes remaining

18:46 BST - Amidst all that mayhem it finished Bayern Munich 3-1 Augsburg and Villarreal 3-4 Barcelona.

17:11 BST - Over in Germany, Harry Kane has his first home Bayern Munich goal after slotting home a penalty against Ausgburg. They're 2-0 up just before half-time.

In La Liga, Barcelona have somehow let their two-goal advantage slip and it's back to all square in Villarreal.

It's all going wrong for the Reds as the Dutchman brings down Alexander Isak - who is the last man just outside the box.

16:56 BST - Goal! Anthony Gordon pulls away from the Liverpool back line after Trent Alexander-Arnold mis-controls and the former Everton man slots home to put Newcastle ahead.

16:45 BST - Barcelona are ahead early in their fixture at Villarreal. Youngster Lamine Yamal produces a beautifully lofted cross into the box, where Gavi rises high to head the ball into the bottom right corner and beyond the goalkeeper.

Moments later Frenkie de Jong makes it 2-0.

Trent Alexander-Arnold gets an early yellow for throwing the ball away after a shove from Anthony Gordon.

Moments later he pushes his fellow Liverpudlian over in what looked like a second bookable offence - but the referee gives him the benefit of the doubt.

The ball is cannoned in by Kyle Walker, hits Foden and breaks to Rodri, who absolutely leathers it in the top corner. Great strike.

15:47 BST - Goal! The home crowd are jubilant as some iffy Manchester City defending eventually sees the ball land at the feet of Jayden Bogle, who smashes it into the net past Ederson. It's 1-1!

He's not had his best day today but he doesn't give up. Jack Grealish clips in a lovely ball to the back post and Haaland leaps to head down into the goal.

The Blades' resistance finally breaks.

15:07 BST - Goal! Back underway in the Premier League and Burnley have come out fighting.

Lyle Foster pulls one back for the home side, scoring with a brilliant shot into the left side of the goal after being released inside the box by a superb lofted pass from Johann Berg Gudmundsson

9:09 BST - Having had over two weeks to stew on a chastening 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in their Premier League opener, Burnley return to action this afternoon after last weekend's proposed trip to Luton was postponed due to ongoing work to revamp Kenilworth Road. 

Aston Villa are smiling again following a much-improved showing last week after their opening day demolition by Newcastle - but who will get the better of things at Turf Moor today?
