Free agent Russo joins Arsenal after leaving Manchester United
The forward, who joined Man Utd in 2020 and made 59 appearances in all competitions, scoring 26 goals, announced last month that she was leaving the club after her contract expired.
"We are delighted to confirm that Alessia Russo has joined us on a permanent deal," Arsenal said in a statement.
Russo - who has scored 11 goals in 21 appearances for the Lionesses and was part of the team that won last year's European Championship on home soil - is preparing for the women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, which begins on July 20th.
She emerged as a January transfer target for Arsenal, but a world-record bid was shunned by Man Utd as they pushed to claim the title.
Russo did not sign a new deal and was instead free to move to Arsenal, where she is keen to add domestic medals to the women's Euro success she enjoyed last year.
"I'm really excited to be here and I can't wait to get going," Russo said.
"I want to win trophies -- as does everyone in this club. I can't wait to get stuck in and grow as a player -- it's a new challenge and a new environment.
"I think the growth of the women's game has been incredible, but particularly at a club like Arsenal."
