Former Chelsea striker Gonzalo Higuain set to retire at end of MLS season
The Argentinian striker has played in Miami since 2020, 68 appearances for the US side, scoring 18 goals in the process. He is set to finish his career this weekend against CF Montreal, but it could be extended if Miami make the MLS playoffs.
Higuain made a name for himself in Europe as a potent goalscorer with Real Madrid, Napoli and Juventus among other European teams. He won LaLiga and Serie A along with the Europa League in 2019 with Chelsea.
On the international stage, he was also a big part of the Argentina squad that made their way to the World Cup final in 2014, eventually losing out to Germany in extra time. He has not featured for his national side since 2018, but in 67 appearances, he scored 30 times.
In Miami, he was able to play with his brother Federico (37), where they spent a season and a half together before the elder Higuain retired.
