Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) are reportedly in talks with a US-based buyer, who is interested in a full takeover of the Premier League club.

According to the Mail on Sunday, FSG have been engaged in talks for several weeks after an approach was made for the Reds.

This fresh report follows news earlier this week that Liverpool's owners are considering whether or not they should sell the club outright or seek new investors.

Part of a statement released by FSG on Monday explained they have frequently received expressions of interest from third parties seeking to become shareholders in the Reds.

Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are involved in the process of exploring the market for Liverpool, which may point toward a significant deal.

The Reds are headed into the World Cup break with another win under their wings, beating Southampton 3-1 at Anfield in the Premier League this weekend.
