Fury demands Usyk 'takes 30 per cent purse' for potential bout
'The Gypsy King' took to social media amid reports that financial disputes are holding up contracts ahead of what would be a mammoth fight between two of the best heavyweight boxers in recent memory.
Ukrainian Usyk has been adamant he should receive an even 50/50 split in recent times, despite his promoter more recently revealing they would accept less. Yet Fury's camp believes his name brings a significantly increased value to the spectacle and are refusing to budge on anything less than their own terms.
Posting on his Instagram account, Fury said: "I see all this talk of boxing fights, they want 50 per cent, Tyson is being greedy... but from where I'm standing, Usyk, you and your team are worth 30 per cent.
"Either take it or you leave it and if you don't want it, go and fight Daniel Dubois at the Copper Box and get a few million dollars.
"If you want real money come and fight the Gypsy King, but what I will say, for every day from today that you linger and mess around, I'm going to deduct one per cent from the 30 per cent.
"If you don't take it, fight Dubois for $2 million. Tick tock, tick tock."
The fight had originally been scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia - likely for an incredible sum of money - but talks ultimately broke down with the Middle East organisers.
It leaves London as the only other realistic destination, with a date of April 29th pencilled in for Wembley Stadium.
Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, has given today (March 10th) as a deadline to Usyk's team before walking away from talks altogether.
The 34-year-old WBC title-holder is no stranger to public spats over contract negotiations, with recent talks between him and Anthony Joshua famously falling apart amidst a social media back-and-forth between the British pair.
Should Fury v Usyk take place as planned, it would crown the first-ever undisputed heavyweight champion to hold all four belts.
