Grand National 2024: All the key information you need to know
Thousands of punters will be in attendance for the most anticipated race of the year, as well as plenty of others in the days before.
Here is everything you need to know about the 2024 Grand National.
When is the Grand National?
The Grand National itself takes place on Saturday, April 13th at 16:00 BST, brought forward from the usual time of 17:15, with 34 horses expected to run.
There are a host of other races before that, as well as on Opening Day (Thursday, April 11th) and Ladies Day (Friday, April 12th).
Where to watch the Grand National?
The big race can be watched live on ITV1 or streamed on ITVX, as well as on various betting platforms - although you may be required to place a bet before being allowed to watch live.
What is the Grand National Course?
After a safety review, the number of horses competing at the Grand National has been cut from 40 to 34, with jockeys having to complete two laps of the course - covering four-and-a-quarter miles and jumping 30 fences.
The Chair is the tallest of the 16 fences at 5ft 2in but along with the Water Jump only features on the first lap.
Every other fence in jumped twice, once for each lap.
The course takes roughly between nine and 11 minutes to complete, depending on the conditions on the day.
