Haaland has some way to go to dethrone Ronaldo, the current top-scorer of the Champions League, who has currently netted 140 times throughout his career for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
Ronaldo was also the first-ever player to hit 100 goals in the tournament, famously reaching the milestone with a hat-trick against Bayern Munich on his 137th appearance.

Lionel Messi was imperious for Barcelona in the Champions League and netted 120 times for the club he joined as a 13-year-old, winning the tournament four times.
Messi left Barcelona for PSG in the summer of 2021, but his goal against Maccabi Haifa the following season etched his name in the record books as he became the only player to have scored in 18 consecutive editions of the competition.

During the 2019/20 season, Robert Lewandowski ended a run of 12 successive seasons in which either Ronaldo or Messi had topped the goalscoring charts.
But the then Bayern striker was unable to retain the title the following season as a certain Erling Haaland - then playing for Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund - raked in 10 goals, two more than Kylian Mbappe in second-place.
