Jimmy White targets German Masters victory to end 19-year drought
'Whirlwind' White's last tournament win on the professional circuit came at the 2004 Players Championship in Glasgow where he beat Paul Hunter.
The 60-year-old - who reached the finals of the UK Open in November - sealed his place at the German Masters after earning qualifying victories over Mark Joyce and Martin Gould.
And ahead of his first-round clash against Chinese 21-year-old Peng Yisong, White believes he has every chance of claiming long-awaited silverware at the Tempodrom in Berlin.
"I actually know I can be a tournament winner," White told Eurosport.
"I'm going to have to stay doing exactly what I'm doing and not get too wrapped up in it when it's happening. I have to stay in the moment.
"I have to keep improving mentally. All parts of my game. The practice, living properly and enjoying competing. When your confidence goes, so many things go through your mind, but I know my game is in shape.
"I've had to go full circle. If I don't win another tournament, it won't be for not trying. Make no mistake, I've got to keep my feet on the ground and keep building this confidence."
The German Masters gets underway on Tuesday with world number 12 Jack Lisowski headlining the afternoon session against Zhang Anda.
The 2022 champion Zhao Xintong will be unable to defend his crown after being suspended from snooker as part of a match-fixing investigation alongside nine other Chinese players. His opponent Tom Ford was handed a walkover in their first-round clash.
