Liverpool increase ticket prices at Anfield for next season

In a statement released via the club's official website and social media, it was announced it'll cost two per cent more to attend matches at Anfield as of next term.

This news comes as Liverpool prepare to welcome an increased number of supporters next season with a revamped Anfield Road stand.

From August, the club will be able to host 61,000 fans - an increase of 7,000 from this season.

The ticket price rise equates to an extra £1 on members' match-day tickets and 'no more than £17' on a season ticket (for Premier League home fixtures).

Liverpool said the increase is a result of significant rising costs across the club, but tickets for juniors and the local general sale won't change.

'In the past five years, annual operating costs for Anfield have increased by nearly 40 per cent, and utility costs have gone up by 100 per cent this season,' a statement said.

Spirit of Shankly, a Liverpool supporters' union, said they oppose the decision to increase ticket prices.

A post the group made on Twitter said: 'We are in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, where any increase – even two per cent – will impact supporters.'
