Middlesbrough come from behind to down struggling Blackburn
Trying to recapture their form following a disappointing run of just one win in their last five games, Blackburn Rovers got off to the perfect start, taking the lead in the sixth minute.
John Buckley played a long ball up the pitch, where Ryan Hedges beat the offside trap to run through on goal and made no mistake, finishing well past Zack Steffen.
Middlesbrough struggled to grow into the game as the half went on, with the hosts instead looking the most likely to net again.
Buckley almost became provider once again just after the half hour mark, but after he found Sam Gallagher in space, the striker could only fire wide, as his side went into the HT break with a one-goal lead.
The second half could not have started any better for Michael Carrick’s Boro side, as they equalised within the first minute.
Matt Crooks played the ball to Marcus Forss in the box, but with a lot still to do, the Finnish forward smashed an effort in from a tight angle to stun the home crowd.
Things went from bad to worse for the home side as they were reduced to 10 men less than five minutes later after Buckley seemed to have thrown the ball at the head of Boro player Riley McGree.
The ascendancy just did not stop there for Carrick’s Boro side, as they then took the lead through a sublime McGree volley from the edge of the box, after he was teed up by Forss.
The Blackburn players struggled to recover from the triple blow in a short space of time, and never looked like equalising.
The visitors controlled the rest of the game, defending their lead well and held on for all three points, to move them up from 12th to 6th in the table.
