Mourinho sees red as Cremonese seal first win of season against Roma
Cremonese's drought is over.
Ballardini's team won their first Serie A game this season - in their 24th match - and returned to winning ways in the top flight for the first time since March 1996 with a 2-1 win over Roma.
The victory, which sees them move above Sampdoria at the foot of the table, began in the first half when Frank Tsadjtout opened the scoring in the 17th minute.
Down a goal, Roma controlled the game with possession but could not trouble Marco Carnesecchi's goal.
The nerves on the Roma bench were evident and on his return from the locker room after half-time, José Mourinho was sent off for vehement protests.
The Portuguese coach will not be on the bench for their home clash with Juventus on Sunday.
Leonardo Spinazzola took advantage of a blunder in the Cremonese defence and scored with his first shot on target for Roma in the 71st minute.
But his joy was short-lived as on 82 minutes Rui Patrício brought down David Okereke for a penalty that Daniel Ciofani tucked away to the delight of the home supporters.
