The NBA have suspended 11 players after a mass brawl erupted during Detroit Pistons’ 121-101 win over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday.

The Pistons were leading by nine points at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit when Magic centre Moritz Wagner shoved Pistons guard Killian Hayes off the court.

Pistons guard Hamidou Diallo ran over to push Wagner, with Hayes punching Wagner in the back of the head in retaliation, sending him sprawling into the Pistons bench.

The PA announcer could be heard urging fans to remain seated during the melee to avoid a repeat of 'The Malice at the Palace', when in 2004 a brawl between the Pistons and Indiana Pacers spiralled out of control with fights breaking out in the stands.

Hayes was suspended for three games for hitting Wagner, with Diallo and eight other Magic players - RJ Hampton, Kevon Harris, Gary Harris, Cole Anthony, Admiral Schofield, Franz Wagner, Wendell Carter Jr and Mohamed Bamba - receiving one-match bans.

Wagner was banned for two games for shoving.

The suspensions for the Magic players will be staggered so the team have enough players available in their roster for their next two games.
