Noppert breezes past Whitlock to win Players Championship 2
The Dutchman, 32, earned the £12,000 prize in impressive fashion as the first weekend of the ProTour came to an end at the Barnsley Metrodome.
Noppert was comfortable for the majority of the day on his way to the final and ramped up his game against Australian Whitlock, averaging over 100 in the encounter.
"It was a good day. I wasn't at my very best level, but my finishing was brilliant," said Noppert afterwards.
"There are 128 good players here and sometimes you don't play your best game, but against Simon in the final, I produced a good performance and I'm very happy with the win.
"Last year I had a really good year and I am really proud of my performance here. I feel really emotional. I am speechless.
"When you win games and tournaments like I have on the big stage, I have more belief and I think my son being born last year gave me a really positive feeling. I am always feeling positive."
UK Open champion Noppert eased past Players Championship 1 semi-finalist Dylan Slevin to start his Sunday campaign before whitewashing England's Connor Scutt in the next round.
He then moved past Vladimir Andersen in round three before producing a strong display against Saturday's runner-up Jamie Hughes to advance.
Noppert then dispatched Callan Rydz and Brendan Dolan before overpowering Whitlock, who himself enjoyed a solid weekend of results.
Whitlock started off by toppling Dave Chisnall in round one before comfortably beating Mario Vandenbogaerde and Rowby-John Rodriguez.
The 53-year-old then ousted Dutchmen Raymond van Barneveld and Richard Veenstra before stunning top seed Luke Humphries in the semi-final.
