Live updates

22:07 BST - That about wraps things up for us here, on what was a relatively quiet day for Team GB. That said, medals were still won. Looking for a round-up of the day's big action? You can find that here - goodnight!

21:57 BST - The USA men’s basketball team have come back from 17 points down to edge Serbia 95-91 in an incredible finish to their semi-final clash. The USA’s superstars - Steph Curry (36 points) and LeBron James (triple-double) - stepped up to clinch a berth in the gold medal match.

The USA will face hosts France in the final with Serbia playing Germany for bronze. It really has been the USA's day in Paris.

20:16 BST - GB's Katarina Johnson-Thompson has just ran the 200m of the women's heptathalon in 23.45 seconds. Not a bad time at all as she wins the heat! It also moves her ahead of Belgium's Nafi Thiam in the overall standings.

19:34 BST - Letsile Tebogo does indeed win the men's 200m gold! The Motswana has denied America's Noah Lyles becoming the first man since Usain Bolt to do the sprint double.

Well, that's a little unfair to Lyles' compatriot, Kenny Bednarek, who won the silver. Lyles took bronze.

19:26 BST - America's Noah Lyles will soon compete in the men's 200m final, aiming to add another gold to his growing collection. Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo will be doing everything to stop that.

19:20 BST - GB's Laura Muir and Georgia Bell have qualified for the women's 1500m final, which will take place tomorrow!

19:07 BST - Katarina Johnson-Thompson has just landed a new personal best of 14.44m! It places her second, as it stands.

18:52 BST - Team GB star Katarina Johnson-Thompson is in women's heptathlon (shot put) action. We'll be sure to bring you further updates.

18:32 BST - Coming up in just under an hour, GB's Bradly Sinden will fight for bronze in the men's taekwondo 68kg after losing to Jordan's Zaid Kareem earlier.

18:19 BST - It's bronze for Emma Finucane in the women's keirin final. Another medal for Team GB!

Read more here.

18:12 BST - More medals could be on the cards for Team GB as Emma Finucane and Katy Marchant go for gold in the women's keirin final.

18:09 BST - Morocco have claimed the bronze medal in men's football after handing African rivals Egypt an absolute battering.

After leading 2-0 at half-time, Morocco added four more goals in the second half to run away with a 6-0 win.

The final scoreline was perhaps a little flattering, but you can't deny that one team showed up for this one!

16:41 BST - Britain's Ellie Aldridge's was won the women's kite final! That's Team GB's 13th gold in Paris.

16:35 BST - Nightmare for GB's Bradly Sinden in the men's taekwondo 68kg semi-finals as he's pipped by Jordan's Zaid Kareem. Good performance by the Brit, but he was pipped in the decider.

16:15 BST - Team GB's Ellie Aldridge has won race one of the women's kite final, edging out France's Lauriane Nolot, to move a stop closer to the gold medal.

15:25 BST - Both Jack Laugher and Jordan Houlden have missed out on medals in the 3m springboard diving final.

14:55 BST - The United States took the first, convincing step towards ending their men’s 4-x100 metres relay drought when they qualified fastest from Thursday’s heats at the Olympics, with a lot more firepower to come, but Jamaica crashed out after two horrible changeovers. The US women’s team also look well-placed to reclaim the title from Jamaica after qualifying fastest.

Britain, bronze medallists in the last two Games, made it through as winners of the second heat in 42.03 and will be considerably strengthened by the return of Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita for the final.

12:46 BST - Great Britain's Katarina Johnson-Thompson is looking great in the women's heptathlon, currently sitting in top spot at around the halfway mark.

11:38 BST - Two-time Olympic gold medallist Jade Jones is narrowly defeated in the taekwondo women's -57kg round of 16.

The best she can hope for now is a bronze via the repechage.

11:36 BST - Ethiopian steeplechase world record holder Lamecha Girma is recovering from a heavy fall at the Paris Olympics and is "in good shape", the International Olympic Committee said on Thursday.

Girma was left prone on the track after falling at a hurdle during Wednesday night's 3000m race before being eventually stretchered off.

He was taken to hospital, according to a source at the Ethiopian athletics federation, but was not undergoing surgery.

11:32 BST - Some drama in the sailing affecting Team GB, as John Gimson and Anna Burnet are deemed to be over the start line of the race.

It's led to a disqualification after they refused a chance to reset, which means they'll miss out on bronze and finish fourth.

There's a slim hope that if conditions worsen the race could be abandoned, but as of right now, Team GB are out.

10:24 BST - Britain have breezed through in their women's 4x100m relay and Bianca Williams, Imani Lansiquot, Amy Hunt and Desiree Henry are in the final.

9:32 BST - Sharon van Rouwendaal from the Netherlands made a late surge to win gold in the women's 10k marathon swimming with a time of 2hr 03min 34.2sec in the River Seine.

Decent haul!

9:12 BST - A strong start for Team GB's Katarina Johnson-Thompson, who puts in a solid showing in her first 100m hurdles heat in the heptathlon.

9:16 BST - There's plenty to look out for on the track and field today in Paris, as finals in the men's 200m, women's 400m and men's 110m hurdles all take place, featuring plenty of big names.

We'll have GB's Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Jade O'Dowda in heptathlon action, while Jack Laugher and Jordan Houlden go for diving gold in the men's 3m springboard.

Britain also has medal hopes in the sailing via Ellie Aldridge.

A bit of taekwondo to look forward to, as well.
