22:18 BST - Ireland have followed Great Britain in being defeated in the quarter-finals of the women's rugby sevens in Paris. The Irish were outclassed 40-7 by an impressive Australian side.

21:45 BST - In the men’s fencing foil, Cheung Ka Long of Hong Kong has won gold after beating Italy's Filippo Macchi in the final. American Nick Itkin won bronze.

21:00 BST - Australia have grabbed gold and silver in the women's 200m freestyle final, with Mollie O'Callaghan surging from the final turn to win gold ahead of defending champion Ariarne Titmus!

Hong Kong's Siobhan Bernadette Haughey claimed bronze. O'Callaghan's winning time of 1:53.27 was an Olympic record.

20:51 BST - It's defeat for Team GB in the women's rugby sevens; the USA claim a 17-7 win over the Brits.

20:25 BST - Reigning Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz, of Spain, has beaten Dutchman Griekspoor Tallon 6-1, 7(7)-6(3) to move into the next round of the men's singles.

19:49 BST - Matt Richards has clinched the silver medal for Team GB at the men's 200m freestyle final! That's now six medals for Great Britain today.

Romania's David Popovici snatched gold from the Brit in dramatic fashion, while Luke Hobson of the USA picks up bronze.

19:31 BST - Japan have clinched the gold in the men's artistic team gymnastics, with China claiming silver. The USA took bronze ahead of Great Britain.

That is Japan's sixth gold and sees them go top of the overall count, an impressive start to the Olympics.

18:13 BST - Following his win over Rafael Nadal earlier today, Novak Djokovic has said he hopes his "unique and very special" rivarly with the Spaniard can continue after the Olympics.

Djokovic continued: "I just hope for the sake of our rivalry and the sport in general that we'll get to face each other once or maybe a few times, on different surfaces, in different parts of the world, because I feel like it can only benefit the sport."

17:06 BST - It's another medal for Great Britain! Adam Burgess has picked up the silver at the men's C1 canoe slalom as Team GB make it five for the day in Paris.

17:05 BST - And it is indeed a defeat for Dan Evans. Stefanos Tsitsipas claims a 6-1, 6-2 win. The Brit, still with something to play in the doubles, is out of the singles.

16:46 BST - It's not going to plan for Britain's Dan Evans; he's a set down to Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece, a formidable opponent, and is currently trailing 3-1 in the second set.

16:19 BST - A bit of concerning news coming from the British camp as swimmer Adam Peaty has tested positive for Covid, a day after he narrowly missed out on the 100m breaststroke gold.

15:41 BST - Team GB have beaten South Africa in the women's rugby sevens! The Springboks threatened to run away with it early on, going 12-0 up just before the break.

But the Brits were able to decrease the deficit before the end of the first half to 12-7, before going on to win 26-17.

15:26 BST - In a little over 15 minutes, Britain's Dan Evans is slated take on Stefanos Tsitsipas, of Greece, in the men's tennis singles. You can follow that live here.

15:00 BST - After winning gold in the team eventing jumping final earlier today, Laura Collett has earned bronze in the individual event.

It's her first individual Olympic medal. What a day for the 34-year-old.

14:56 BST - Novak Djokovic beats his old foe Rafael Nadal 6-1, 6-4!

It could have been much more for the 37-year-old Serb after a classy first set but he will take the victory as he continues his bid for an Olympic gold medal.

That could very well be the final match between two great competitors.

14:50 BST - After his silver medal with teammate Noah Williams earlier, Tom Daley said "you never know" about making an appearance at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Daley stressed he would think about his future but an appearance in four years could be on the cards considering his residency in LA.

"They might be adding different events into the Games in LA. I live in LA now so it could be a chance to do a second home Olympic Games," he said.

"But right now I just want to enjoy this moment and we'll see how it goes after that."

14:38 BST - Pidcock retains his gold medal! He wins Team GB's second gold of the day and the Games with a dramatic victory in the men's mountain biking cross country.

He somehow recovered from a puncture which pushed him down to ninth off the lead, but romped back to claim the spoils off leader Victor Koretzky of France.

14:15 BST - Great Britain have beaten South Africa 26-17 to record their second win of the Paris Olympics to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the women's rugby sevens.

13:05 BST - Liam Pitchford is safely through to the second round of the table tennis singles after seeing off Fiji's Vicky Wu 4-0.

Meanwhile, defending champion Tom Pidcock is about to get going in the men's mountain biking cross-country event with Olympic debutant Charlie Aldridge.

12:40 BST - Gold for Team GB! It's their first of the Games as they win the eventing jumping team final ahead of France and Japan.

Laurie Collett brought home the goods for the team, securing a second straight Olympic title.

12:37. BST - Women's tennis top seed Iga Swiatek has sailed through to the second round with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 win over France's Diane Parry.

12:05 BST - We're getting closer to Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal renewing their rivalry and for potentially the last time.

It's the 60th time they've come across each other and Djokovic will be the heavy favourite, but never discount Nadal on the Roland Garros clay.

11:25 BST - Here's the moment Daley and Williams received their silver medals. It's a brilliant moment as Daley waves and blows kisses to his loved ones watching on.

11:02 BST - Daley and Williams take silver in the men's 10m synchro! They gave it everything with some superb, splash-free entries but they are pipped to gold by China's Junjie Lian and Hao Jang, who were very good value themselves.

It's Daley's first silver at the Olympics and it goes with his one gold and three bronzes, while Williams has earned his first medal. It's a great achievement.

10:35 BST - Daley and Williams are very much in this. They score an impressive 93.96 with two dives remaining. A silver medal looks to be a minimum at the moment as GB are clear of Canada.

10:13 BST - It's a solid start to proceedings for Daley and Williams. "Classy" is indeed the word.

10:12 BST - Adam Peaty said he is "not sad" despite being beaten in the 100m breaststroke final on Sunday.

Peatey was bidding for a third straight gold medal in the event.

"It's not sad at all," he said.

"If you're willing to put yourself on the line every single time, I think there's no such thing as a loss. I'm so happy that the right man won it."

10:00 BST - Almost ready to go for the men's synchro 10m final. Daley and Williams will be the sixth pair out of eight to dive.

09:45 BST - Today's first gold medal has been won with South Korea's 16-year-old Ban Hyojin winning the women's 10m air rifle final in a shoot-off against China's Huang Yuting. Switzerland's Audrey Gogniat takes bronze.

09:23 BST - In the shooting Trap men's qualifying round, Team GB's Nathan Hales his 25 from 25 shots while Matt Coward-Holley scored 24 himself. The pair will return for the second round of qualification later today.

Round three is tomorrow with the top six shooters progressing into the final.

09:15 BST - Less than an hour away until Tom Daley - back for his fifth Olympics - and Noah Williams take on the men's synchronised 10m platform.

08:54 BST - Moving away from Team GB briefly, there is the small matter of Novak Djokovic versus Rafael Nadal in a potential final clash between two of tennis' greatest-ever players.

Their second-round match on the Roland Garros clay is set to get underway later this afternoon.

08:32 BST - Some early success for Team GB coming from the women's badminton as Scotland's Kirsty Gilmour has beaten Keisha Fatimah Azzarah of Azerbaijan 21-11 in their Group N match.

08:20 BST - Plenty to look forward to today with 19 medals up for grabs.

Tom Daley and his partner Noah Williams will go for gold in the men's synchronised 10m platform but face stiff competition when that gets underway at 10:00 BST.

Continuing in the pool, Matt Richards and Duncan Scott are in swimming action in the men's 200m freestyle final.

In cycling, Tom Pidcock and Charlie Aldridge compete in the mountain biking cross-country event from 13:10 BST.

07:55 BST - Before we get into today's action, we have some news that was confirmed earlier regarding the triathlon.

The second training session has been cancelled by Olympic organisers over concerns about pollution levels in the River Seine.

It comes after the first training session was cancelled on Sunday.
