The latest round of midweek Premier League action is over as clubs try to pack in as many games before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar gets underway next month.

Arsenal were due to face Manchester City in a battle between the top two, but the Gunners' rearranged Europa League fixture against PSV prevented their Premier League tie from going ahaead.

All the other clubs were in domestic action, though, and here is Flashscore's Team of the Week.

Alisson (30) - Liverpool

The Brazilian shot stopper saved a penalty in Liverpool's 1-0 win against West Ham at Anfield. His save proved to be decisive as the Reds won back-to-back Premier League games for just the second time this season, helping them climb up to seventh in the table.

Kieran Trippier (32) - Newcastle United

Newcastle have the best defensive record in the entire league, and it's clear to see why following their performance in their 1-0 win against Everton. Any of the back four could have been included after another solid display, but the right-back gets the nod.

Trippier kept the Everton wingers quiet and was his usual reliable self when going forward, and with injuries elswhere in the national team it looks likely that he will be starting for England in Qatar.

Ethan Pinnock (29) - Brentford

The Bees drew 0-0 with Chelsea on Wednesday night and Pinnock was a major contributor to Thomas Frank's side keeping a third clean sheet in four games. The defender made 11 clearences for the home side and a crucial block in the second half ensured the points were shared in London.

His heroics earned him the man of the match award.

Mohammed Salisu (23) - Southampton

The Saints kept their first league clean sheet of the season when they beat Bournemouth 1-0, and a big factor in their win was Ghanaian defender Salisu.

He was a rock at the back for Southampton, winning five out of five duels and making four tackles, while also clearing off the line to ensure the Cherries couldn't get back into the game.

Miguel Almiron (28) - Newcastle United

The Paraguayan has gone from strength to strength under Eddie Howe this season and continued his fine goal scoring form in Newcatsle's 1-0 win against Everton. He now has four goals in four games during October, and five in total for the season.

That's more than Jack Grealish (27) has for City, and the winger might just be regretting his comments made about Almiron at the end of last season.

Bruno Fernandes (28) - Manchester United

Fernandes has been perfomring well below the standards he set when he first arrived in Manchester back in 2020, but he was back to his best in United's 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur.

The midfielder was industrious throughout, making things happen for the home side before eventually getting a deserved goal in the second half as the Red Devils moved within one point of the top four.

Casemiro (30) - Manchester United

While United's forward players shone against Spurs, Casemiro was just as important in keeping things secure at the other end of the pitch. The former Real Madrid midfielder kept United organised and ensured they kept hold of the ball as much as possible, making 10 recoveries and winning four duels.

His performance warranted high praise from manager Erik ten Hag, who told reporters "[Casemiro's] performance shows how important a player like him is for the team. He was magnificent".

Fred (29) - Manchester United

The Brazilian completes a trio of United midfielders in the Team of the Week. Fred was superb against Spurs, opening the scoring and playing an important part in the second goal.

His relationship with Casemiro has also started to show, with the pair taking their parntership from the national team into their domestic fixtures.

Willian (34) - Fulham

Many had written off the signing of Willian before he even took to the pitch, but he was integral to Fulham's 3-0 win against Aston Villa. The winger was dangerous throughout the game and helped the Cottagers to continue their climb up the table, now sitting in ninth place.

Granted, he was helped by a hopeless Villa performance, but his display earns him a spot in the Team of the Week while also putting the final nail in the coffin for Steven Gerrard, who was sacked not long after the match finished.

Darwin Nunez (23) - Liverpool

Coupled with Alisson, Nunez makes it two Liverpool players in the Team of the Week after his match-winning goal against West Ham. The Uruguayan netted early in the first half, while also hitting the post and forcing Lukasz Fabianski (37) into some important saves. On another day he could have had a hat-trick, but a first Liverpool goal at Anfeld will do his confidence a world of good.

Wilfred Zaha (29) - Crystal Palace

Zaha showed again why he is one of the best players outside of the 'big six' when he scored the winner in Palace's 2-1 victory against Wolves. The Ivorian, alongside Eberechi Eze (24), was dangerous thoughout the match and caused lots of problems for the Wolves defence.

His latest goal takes him to five for the season and 14 for 2022, which means some more inevitable transfer speculation will probably start coming up again sooner rather than later.
