Premier League Team of the Week: Record-breaker Kane leads the line
There were also a number of big individual displays which Flashscore will take a look at as part of the latest Team of the Week.
GK - Keylor Navas (Nottingham Forest)
Nottingham Forest were expecting to grab a pair of safe hands when securing a transfer window coup of Keylor Navas.
That was what they received in his first outing for the club in the Tricky Trees’ 1-0 win over Leeds on Sunday.
The veteran Costa Rica goalkeeper backstopped a clean sheet with four saves as Forest shut down a struggling Whites side.
DEF - Emerson Royal (Tottenham)
Tottenham’s deadline day capture of Pedro Porro evidently sent a message to Emerson Royal, who put in his performance in lily-white in the 1-0 win over Manchester City.
The Brazilian was superb down the right-hand flank for Spurs making six clearances, two interceptions and winning eight duels and five fouls against the champions.
DEF - James Tarkowski (Everton)
It was a happy start to life at relegation-threatened Everton for Sean Dyche and it was largely down to the display of former Burnley defender James Tarkowski.
Tarkowski was a commanding presence in the Toffees’ dogged 1-0 triumph over league leaders Arsenal.
On the back end, he made one block, five clearances - four of which were headed - and won all three of his aerial duels.
Crucially, one of those duels resulted in the lone goal of the game as he outfought Martin Odegaard to head in the all-important winner.
DEF - Tim Ream (Fulham)
The start of the match-week did not exactly get off to a flying start with a 0-0 stalemate between Chelsea ad Fulham, but it was Tim Ream’s display that helped the visitors pick up a solid point on the road.
The American made two blocks, three clearances and interceptions each, while his biggest contribution came when he prevented David Datro Fofana’s effort on the goal line.
DEF - Max Kilman (Wolves)
Wolves came fast out of the blocks by going two goals up inside 12 minutes against a blunt Liverpool and central defender Max Kilman produced an assured display to power his side towards a 3-0 victory.
Alongside partner Craig Dawson, who tallied Wolves’ second goal, Kilman was solid defensively with six clearances and five blocks at a rocking Molineux.
MID - Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford)
Bryan Mbeumo was the star of the show for Brentford as they swept aside rock-bottom Southampton 3-0 at the GTech Community Stadium.
The Cameroonian had a role in the Bees’ opening goal with his excellent cross finding Ben Mee before he tallied himself moments later.
Mbeumo created three chances in total for his teammates and finished with a pass accuracy of 82 per cent.
MID - Ruben Neves (Wolves)
One of the displays of the weekend came from Wolves talisman Ruben Neves, who simply ran the midfield against Liverpool.
The Portugal international scored his side’s third goal against the Reds, finishing coolly past a helpless Alisson.
MID - Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Tottenham)
Tottenham needed a rounded effort to claim a result against City and that was what they got from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in central midfield.
The Dane set up his side’s goal after nipping in to intercept a Rodri pass but ensured he was combative with his defensive duties.
He made three tackles, two interceptions and eight recoveries at a raucous Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
MID - Marcus Rashford (Manchester United)
Marcus Rashford’s stellar run of form continued on Saturday as Manchester United fended off Crystal Palace to earn a 2-1 win.
The England international got things underway for the Red Devils by winning a penalty after his cross was handled before he found the scoresheet with his 11th goal in his last 13 games.
FWD - Harry Kane (Tottenham)
Writing his name into the Tottenham history books, Harry Kane’s lone goal of the game against City saw him become the club’s greatest-ever goalscorer.
Kane capitalised on a mistake in defence to slot home his 267th Spurs goal to surpass the late, great Jimmy Greaves.
In the process, he also tallied his 200th Premier League goal to join Alan Shearer (260) and Wayne Rooney (208) in an exclusive club.
FWD - Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester)
It has not been the easiest seasons for Kelechi Iheanacho at Leicester, but he ensured he took what has been a long-awaited starting berth against Aston Villa.
Iheanacho was involved in three of the Foxes' four goals at Villa Park, setting up James Maddison to kick things off.
He then headed home Leicester’s second confidently before threading in new arrival Tete, who capped off his debut for the club with a goal.
