Red Bull have been found guilty of breaking Formula 1's budget cap, the motorsport's governing body FIA has announced.

The FIA said Red Bull exceeded the limit of £127m during 2021, but also stated that it was a "minor" offence.

As it is a minor offence, it means Red Bull exceeded the limit by less than 5%.

The FIA added that it is currently determining appropriate action. Red Bull are able to appeal against the decision and have since responded publicly.

A statement shared on Twitter reads: "Our 2021 submission was below the cost cap limit, so we need to carefully review the FIA's findings.

"There is of course a process under the regulations with the FIA which we will respectfully follow while we consider all of the options available to us."

The full statement is below.

Additionally, Aston Martin and Williams were found to have committed a procedural breach of the F1 cap, which means there were errors with forms and not a breach of permitted spend.
