Red Bull's Horner jokes about 'incredible' mega F1 2023 entry fee
Despite the prestige and accolades that come with winning the constructors' championship, it still comes at a price.
Speaking at Friday's FIA Awards Gala, where Horner officially received his team's 2022 honours, the Red Bull boss remarked on the eye-watering figures involved with being the best.
"I didn't realise how much we had to pay the FIA for the points," Horner admitted. "I got the bill the other day and it was incredible."
For the upcoming 2023 Formula One season, every team will have to pay a £500,000 flat fee, with an additional £5,000 per point won during the 2022 constructors' championship.
However, constructors' champions must pay £6,000 per point.
The fees have risen from roughly £465,000 per team last season - with the champions likely to be spending around £6,900 for each of their points won in the previous year.
It means Red Bull will be paying roughly £5m in entry fees for the new season, while runners-up Ferrari will only be paying an estimated £3.3m.
The fees were slated to be paid on December 10th.
