Graeme Dott says the final qualifying round for the World Championship is a "horrible" experience after defeating Andy Hicks on Saturday.

Scotland's Dott claimed a 10-6 victory in the semi-final of qualifying at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield to move him closer to making the main draw of the tournament he won in 2006.

The 45-year-old will face a final hurdle in England's Matthew Selt on 'Judgement Day' in a bid to end an absence lasting three years.

But ahead of the match, which takes place on Tuesday, Dott admits the last round of qualifying is unenjoyable with what is at stake for every player.

"That last round is not nice. I don't think anybody could enjoy it," he said, via the World Snooker Tour.

"They are horrible matches to play in. All you want to do is win, regardless of how you feel or how you play."

The World Championship gets underway on April 15th and concludes on May 1st.
