Team GB set for European Games with Paris 2024 spots on the line
An estimated 7,000 athletes from 48 European countries will take part in 12 days of competition across Kraków and Małopolska, following the opening ceremony at the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium.
Team GB have selected 178 athletes who will compete across 18 Olympic disciplines as preparations ramp-up ahead of next summer's Olympic Games in Paris.
B-Boy Karam and B-Boy Sunni are included in the team and set to become the first British competitors in breaking when they take to the floor next Monday, with Janujo Tomblin selected as the first male to represent Great Britain in artistic swimming.
There will also be familiar faces with table tennis players Liam Pitchford and Paul Drinkhall, and shooters Amber Rutter and Seonaid McIntosh, all competing in their third European Games having been included in the inaugural European Games in Baku 2015.
Nineteen athletes will be returning for their second European championships after competing in Minsk 2019.
Olympic gold medalists Charlotte Worthington (BMX freestyle), Joe Choong (modern pentathlon), Jade Jones (taekwondo) and Joe Clarke (canoe slalom) will once again be vying for top spot on the podium with Team GB naming 32 athletes who competed at the last Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020 in the squad.
Qualification for Paris 2024 will be on the line for most disciplines with direct quota spots up for grabs in archery, artistic swimming, boxing, breaking, canoe slalom, diving, modern pentathlon, rugby sevens, shooting and table tennis.
Elsewhere, ranking points will be available in BMX freestyle, fencing, mountain bike, taekwondo and triathlon, ahead of the closing ceremony on 2 July.
