In a video shared on social media by one of his fans, which immediately went viral, Rafael Nadal can be seen training at a good pace on one of his academy's courts.

With just over a week to go before the Italian Open begins, dreams of seeing the winner of 22 Grand Slams in Rome again could be realised.

After all, it was Nadal himself who mentioned on more than one occasion that he would like to play on clay before Roland-Garros.

He intended to do so for Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Madrid, but it wasn't meant to be.

All that remains is Rome and, given Nadal's determination, a reunion with Novak Djokovic in the Italian capital can't be ruled out.

In fact, the Serbian champion, number one in ATP's ranking, also struggling for fitness, showed good rhythm on his return to clay in Marbella.
