Unbeaten runs and final dominance: Four Djokovic records at Wimbledon
But upon Federer's retirement, his dominance over the grass-court tournament does not appear to be lasting for too much longer.
With the 2023 edition of the Championships fast approaching, Djokovic will be aiming for an eighth title of his own which would equal the Swiss' mark.
The 35-year-old has enjoyed so much recent success at the All England Club that it makes him the clear favourite over the chasing pack and one to beat.
And ahead of this year's event, Flashscore looks at three incredible records set by the timeless Djokovic.
28 wins in a row
As already mentioned, Djokovic has made Wimbledon his own over the last few years, winning each of the last four tournaments.
Obviously, that means he has racked up an impressive amount of wins in that time - 28 to be precise - so it has been a while since the Serbian last experienced defeat.
You'd have to go back six years to 2017 to find his last loss in SW19, which came as a retirement in the quarter-finals against Tomas Berdych due to an elbow injury.
Crucially, the severity of that issue kept him out of action for the rest of the year.
Since his second Wimbledon title in 2014, Djokovic boasts an impressive record of 48 wins and just two defeats.
39 Centre Court wins in a row
Streaks at Wimbledon seem to be a regular thing for Djokovic, who has made playing him on Centre Court a daunting task.
Since 2014, Djokovic has simply owned every opponent he has played on the famous court, winning all of his 39 matches there.
Thirty-nine wins, zero defeats. A crazy level of dominance.
It has been nearly a decade since he was last beaten on that specific court with Andy Murray the last man to take him down, which came in the 2013 final.
Multiple wins over Federer
Federer is well-known for his success at Wimbledon so naturally, he was never troubled by too many players there - apart from Djokovic.
Djokovic is the only player to have beaten Federer more than once, handing him a negative head-to-head record at the tournament.
What is even more impressive, though, is all three of those victories came in finals - back to back in 2014 and 2015 and that famous match in 2019.
Federer's only win over Djokovic came in the 2012 semi-final before beating Murray in the final.
Seven wins in eight finals
It is no secret that Djokovic is one for the big-time and that statement rings true when talking about his record in Wimbledon finals.
He has won seven of the eight finals he has appeared in with - as previously mentioned - the only blemish coming at the hands of Murray.
The only other player who can flex a similar efficiency is the great Pete Sampras, who remained flawless to win all seven of his finals.
To put into context how tough Djokovic has been to topple at the last hurdle, Federer had eight wins from 12 finals.
